Not a political leaflet but something of Irish interest that I found at home recently. From the booklet for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Ireland in 1979,”Ireland Awaits Pope John Paul II- A Pastoral Letter from the Archbishops and Bishops of Ireland”.
The booklet contained all texts for the various masses that the Pope was to celebrate as well as other things too. I’m sure it will be appearing elsewhere in due course.

Mayo County Council Local Election Results 1925 to 2009
April 18, 2012
As Featured in Todays Examiner (uncredited)
The Democratic Left were opposed to Water charges, Water Tax or Water Rates. They wanted to put pressure on other councillors to oppose them too.
Looking at the previous years vote thats shown, some Fine Gael and Fianna Fail voted against the charges.
The Government were seen to be bringing in these extra taxes whilst at the same time having the Tax Amnesty.
“In 1985 the Councils in Dublin, following the election of councillors such as The Democratic Lefts Eamon Gilmore…….” took a bit of phrasing considering Gilmore was elected for The Workers Party.

From 1893 a list of premises on Dublin’s Grafton Street.
There are some fantastically descriptive entries

Then there are words no longer in common use such as peruke and portmanteau
11 Perry, Geo. & Co. (limited) trunk and portmanteau makers,
22 Laird, James, hairdresser, patent peruke maker, and perfumer
Items such as sealskin jackets
62 Joyce, Thomas furrier, importer and manufacturer of sealskin jackets and mantle warehouse
Then what business names do I recognize….
Hodges Figgis & Co are there as are James J Fox , Tobacco and cigar merchant.
Switzer & Co limited occupy numbers 88 and 88 1/2 as well as 91,92 and 93.
The Street has a good number of ‘ pharmaceutical chemists, druggists’ and some time, ‘oil and colour merchants’

This group wanted an abattoir to be set up here for the killing of ‘redundant horses’ as it would eliminate cruelty and create jobs. Amongst the candidates listed as supporting the abattoir were Noel Browne, Sean McBride and Jack Lynch.
I’m not sure if an abattoir for ‘redundant horses’ was ever set up.
