From I think the late 80’s a series of six policy sheets from the IRSP under the headings of “Brief History of the IRSP”, “Women”, “Loyalism”, “Level of Economic Development”, “European Community” and “National Liberation Struggle”
I have scanned all six onto a pdf.
From the late 1980’s one of a series of Information Sheets issued by the IRSP. This one is on “Loyalism”
A leaflet “This Is Republican Socialism An Introduction To The Politics Of The Irish Republican Socialist Party” produced around 2002 by the IRSP. The leaflet gives details of party ideals and policy.
The Spring 1989 edition of “Republican Worker” -Journal of The RDG (Faction of the SWP) . The RDG were the Revolutionary Democratic Group. This publication is from their Scottish branch and contains a discussion paper on “British Withdrawal and Irish Solidarity” as well as details of “Hands Off Ireland” campaign and “The Committee for an Irish Solidarity Forum” (which contained among others The IRSP, RDG, Lenisist, Internationalists, RCG, RIL, Workers Power and Red Action) I’ve uploaded it in pdf here
From 1997 a leaflet from the IRSP calling for the Convening of a Broad Republican Forum to openly debate “The Politics Of The Peace Process”. Interesting given it’s from just after the second IRA Ceasefire, at a delicate time for the Peace Process.
From the 1973 General Election a leaflet from Séamus Costello running for Official Sinn Fein in Wicklow. He polled 1,966 votes and missed out on a seat.
Many thanks to the sender.
From the 1999 Local Elections a Leaflet from Dennis Murphy and Martin Byrne who were running as IRSP backed Independent Republican Socialist candidates for seats on Dublin City Council. Murphy stood in The South West Inner City polling 81 votes whilst Byrne stood in The North Inner City polling 73 votes.
Many thanks to the sender.
From the 2011 Local Elections a leaflet from Lucy Callaghan of the IRSP running in Northland Ward for a seat on Derry City Council. It’s the first time in many years that the IRSP have contested an election in Northern Ireland.
From the 2011 Local Elections in Northern Ireland a leaflet from Jim Gorman of the IRSP who is running for a seat on Belfast City Council in the Lower Falls. The IRSP are fielding five candidates in the Local Elections. As far as I’m aware its a number of elections since they stood candidates.
Many thanks to the sender who notes….
“a copy of an election poster for Ite Ni Chionnaith who ran for The Irish Republican Socialist Party in Dublin South West in the June 10th, 1976 by-election.”
She polled 287 votes in a contest won by Labours Brendan Halligan. The by-election was caused by the death of Fianna Fail TD Noel Lemass. Lemass was son of Sean Lemass, husband of Eileen Lemass and of course brother in law of Charles J Haughey.
First off many thanks to the sender. I’m afraid, despite my best efforts, that its quite difficult to read in parts.
Its issue 2 of the IRSPs Hunger Strike Bulletin produced during the ‘First Hunger strike’ in 1980. The Hunger Strike began on October 27th 1980. Among the Seven initial Hunger Strikers was INLA member John Nixon.
This issue contains a letter from John Nixon and a diary of events for the period between the 26th of October and the 4th of November.
Issue one is posted HERE
Was sent (many thanks) these pages of a 2002 Edition of The Starry Plough, the newspaper of the IRSP. It was a special edition marking the 25th Anniversary of the murder of Seamus Costello.
In this post are The cover of the paper and a very interesting page which cover many things including a profile of Seamus Costello, the foundation of the IRSP and his ultimate murder, which is uploaded in PDF HERE .
(Should anyone have any of Costellos election material. I’d love to post it)
The sender notes too that “Costello was the first (and so far only) leader of an Irish political party to be murdered.”
