To mark the second anniversary of the Bank Guarantee The Irish Daily Star produced a set of playing cards with quotes from many involved in The Crash. Bertie Ahern, Brian Cowen, Sean Dunne, Patrick Honohan, David Drumm, Patrick Neary are among the many included. A reminder of the time.
Many thanks to the sender

A Fianna Fail video promoting the 2005 budget.
A Brian Cowen Cardboard Cutout Face Mask June 10, 2011
Was sent this recently, a cardboard Brian Cowen face mask. These were very common at protests and the like during his term as Taoiseach. A piece of cardboard with a stick taped on the back.
Am waiting for the right fancy dress party…….
Possibly the only piece of Election material from 2011 with a message from Brian Cowen. A leaflet “Offaly News” from his brother, Fianna Fail Laois Offaly candidate Barry Cowen.
In the leaflet we get details of all the good things Offaly got as well as “The Truth” about various items.
For “The Bank Guarantee -The Truth”
We get the justification of the guarantee, a quote from Patrick Honohan and then the punchline……
“The State has already earned €1 billion for guarantee fees in less than two years.”

Ogra Fianna Fail A-Team spoof with Brian Cowen, Brian Lenihan, Mary Coughlan and Batt O’Keefe September 28, 2010
I thought the recent Young PD ones I posted were bad…… then along came this.
It’s on the Ogra Fianna Fail Website and facebook pages.
They’ll be dressing them up in drag next.
Funny thing is that the slogan on the poster for the actual movie is way more apt.
“There is no Plan B”
Brian Cowen on football teams 1980 and 81… July 10, 2010
Was searching around and found these. Brian Cowen in 1980 and 1981.
In 1980 he was on the Clara Under 21 County Championship winners and in 1981 he was on the Clara Senior team.
Funny thing the Johnny Bracken beside him on the Under 21 team could hardly be THIS OTHER ELECTORAL LEGEND FROM CLARA could it? 🙂
From the 2007 General Election A leaflet promoting Laois Offaly Fianna Fail candidates Brian Cowen, Sean Fleming, John Foley and John Moloney. All but John Foley were elected.
John Foley is the chap who goes missing in this infamous Fianna Fail Ard Fheis Clip. (At around 1.05 mins in)
Bertie writes Over the last ten years Ireland has taken major steps forward with mass unemployment being made a distant memory and huge investment in public services. This represents real and sustained progress ……
We also get a little profile of Brian Cowens professional and personal life as well as the other candidates.
From the 2007 General Election a Sorry I missed you type card from Brian Cowen and his team of canvassers.
I’d hazard that many people now would be sorry to have missed him too.
On the reverse are listed key achievements. Amongst these are the number of houses being built. In the year prior to 2007 the incredible total of 93,149 houses were built.
Unemployment is now at higher than 1997 levels.
Éirígí -Welcome to the NAMA Republic Poster April 15, 2010
Many thanks to the donor…
In an effort to highlight the disgraceful behaviour of the Leinster House establishment and the business class with regard to the NAMA saga, éirígí has launched a satirical version of the 1916 Proclamation…..
Brian Cowen -Final Election Message -Laois-Offaly 2007 GE December 22, 2009
Brian Cowens final election message to constituents in 2007. He asks Voters to ‘let us proceed with the Next Steps’… ‘to ensure Bertie Ahern continues the good work…’
The candidates shown are Sean Fleming, John Moloney and John Foley.
John Foley is the chap who disappeared and then reappeared in that David Davin Power report from the Fianna Fail Ard Fheis a few years back.
