A 1927 ad for Fianna Fail criticising the Cosgrave government. Towards the end of the ad there is the line “Fianna Fail is the only Party that can give it to you”.
A leaflet advertising a meeting from An Chomhdháil Phobail | The People’s Convention (CPPC) on Tuesday 14th December 2010.
The meeting is being held in The Gresham Metropole Hotel on Mac Curtain Street in Cork.

This was sent to me a while back (many thanks) .
From 1996 a Progressive Democrats a 27 page Document on the Reform of the Public Service. Its pretty interesting considering that they were in power from 1997 until their demise.

From the 1991 Local Elections running in Dublins North Inner City ward a letter to voters from Fine Gael Candidate Dave Kearney. Where he polled 253 votes (Result here)
Jobs were the issue in 1991 , just as they are today.

An Ad for the late Erskine Childers running in the 1973 Presidential Election. It was interesting that there was no message from Childers himself just one from Lynch.
Also included is a newspaper clipping advertising Fianna Fails Galway Election HQ and a Rally in Eyre Square.
Childers, a TD from 1938 until 1973, had spells as Tánaiste , Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, Minister for Transport and Power, Minister for Lands and Minister for Health.
He was elected to the Presidency in 1973, He passed away on the 17th of November 1974 and was succeeded by Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh.
Taken from the wonderful Galway Advertiser site.
From the 2009 Local Elections the Manifesto for Michael Gleeson of The South Kerry Independent Alliance (SKIA). Gleeson was running for both Kerry County Council and Killarney County Council and was elected to both.
Environment, Housing, Roads, Health and Education are amongst the areas covered here. Gleesons personal message is worh reading and includes the following lines
“Ethical behaviour must be central to all actions and decisions by those who hold elected office and by those appointed to positions of trust. Any deviation from the highest standards betrays the trust of the electorate and corrupts society.”
Had forgotten about this Cumann na nGaedhael Poster, pointed out to me recently. The type of thing Labour might be facing at the next election.
Not sure when the Fianna Fail poster is from.

A 2003 Northern Ireland Womens Coalition document on “The Minimum Age of Voting and Candidacy in UK Elections”
From the second Nice Treaty Referendum a document from the Labour Party entitled “A Different Type of Yes”.
Ive Uploaded it in *.pdf HERE, or else click on the image to open.
From 2003 when doubts about E-Voting were coming to the fore a report for the Labour Parliamentary Party by Shane Hogan and Robert Cochran entitled ‘Electronic Voting in Ireland -A Threat to Democracy?’
There is a lovely quote from the Film Gangs of New York on the front.
The Report itself gives a background to the Irish System its History, Key Components and Operating Procedures. Other areas covered include the the Voter Verifiable Audit Trail as well as possible threats.
The Report recommended “that further usage of Electronic Voting in Ireland is suspended, until”
– A Voter Verifiable Audit Trail is available to give each voter absolute confidence that their vote had been correctly recorded and counted.
– Appropriate control processes & procedures are implemented by DoEHLG, with audit & supervisory responsibility vested in an independent body.
– Integrated ‘end-to-end’ testing, including statistical analysis of the randomisation feature, is carried out to verify the accuracy of the entire system
– DoEHLG commits to providing full details of tally information in database form after each election.
I have uploaded the Report in *.PDF Format HERE

Was sent this image. I presume from the 1917 General Election a poster for Eamon De Valera. The slogan of ‘We Got Him Out To Put Him In’ is excellent.

Many many thanks to the donor.
From the 1934 Sinn Fein Ard Fheis an wonderful pamphlet of an address by Father Michael O’Flanaghan to the Party.
We get a 1934 perspective on Sinn Fein since its foundation in 1917. Goes through various topics including the first split in 1922 and the second split in 1926.
“The most important task of any organisation is to preserve the purity of its principles.” says O’Flanaghan.
A summary of Father Michael O’Flanagans life can be read here.
From the 1985 Fine Gael Ard Fheis a discussion paper on Forestry. In the mid 80s Forestry was seen as a long term jobs provider. Trees grew faster in Ireland than in Scandinavia and also grew on bad land.
From the 1992 General Election a pamphlet “Fianna Fail is Good For Dublin”. It was a slimmed down version of their Manifesto tailored to Dublin.
The “booklet sets out some of our achievements over the past few years, and some of the plans we have developed to continue this work”.
Amongst the items were a “£750 million Job Fund”. Whats interesting here is that it advocated direct state investment by setting up ” a new holding company to invest in job creation”. Plenty of other items of interest too including the introduction of Night buses and radio stations FM104 and 98FM.
