From the 1989 General Election, a leaflet from Labour candidate Toddy O’Sullivan running in Cork South Central.
Toddy O’Sulliavn was first elected to the Dail in 1981 and served until losing his seat in the 1997 General Election.
Toddy was Lord Mayor of Cork in 1980 and also had two stints as a Junior minister. In 1986 he was appointed Minister of State at the Dept of the Environment and in 1994 Minister of State at the Dept of Tourism and Trade.
Bernie Malone -Labour Party -1994 European Elections March 25, 2010
From the 1994 European Elections, Labour candidate Bernie Malone. Bernie Malone , a Malahide based councillor was co-opted to replace sitting MEP Barry Desmond in 1992. She was chosen as the Labour candidate at the selection convention only for Orla Guerin to be added to the ticket. Bernie Malone wasn’t happy and the two candidates developed a ‘rivralry’.
In the end it was Bernie Malone who won a seat.

Kathleen O’Meara -Labour Party -Tipperary North 2007 GE March 10, 2010

Kathleen O’Meara had previously been a journalist in RTE, she is currently Head of Advocacy and Communications at the

John Mulvihill, Sean Sherlock -Labour Party- Cork East 2007 GE March 6, 2010
From the 2007 General Election in Cork East, The Labour Party Candidates Cobh based John Mulvihill and the Mallow based Sean Sherlock (son of the late Joe Sherlock).
John Mulvihill had one term as a TD from 1992 to 1997.
This time around Sean Sherlock won a seat for Labour.

From the 1999 local elections a flyer for Labour candidates Senator Pat Gallagher and Cllr Sean O’Brien running for Offaly County Council. On the reverse the Labour Candidates for Tullamore UDC, Pat Gallagher, Sean O’Brien,Lar Byrne, Joe Feery and Ann Starling are all shown.
Pat Gallagher resigned from politics around 2000 to take up the position of Director of Community and Enterprise with Westmeath County Council. He is now the County Manager of Offaly County Council, having previously held a similar post with Galway County Council. He had been elected to the Dail in 1992 and lost his seat in 1997. He was elected to the Senate in 1997. (His record at electionsireland.org)
The Labour result in Tullamore UDC was a massive victory for them as Labour won four of the nine seats (result at electionsireland.org). Pat Gallagher, Sean O’Brien,Lar Byrne and Joe Feery were elected with Ann Starling missing out.
Incidentally a ‘Miriam O’Callaghan’ was elected for Fianna Fail there too (although I gather no relation).
Theres nothing on the flyer indicating policy, its just photos of the candidates.

John Henson- Labour Party -Athlone 1991 Local Elections March 3, 2010
From the 1991 Local Elections in Athlone, Labour candidate John Henson. I’ve no idea if he was elected or not. Issues covered include moneylending and gaming machines in Mullingar.

Seamus Pattison- Labour -Carlow Kilkenny 1992 GE
Seamus Pattison was first elected in 1961 for Carlow-Kilkenny and served until 2007. He served two Dail terms as Ceann Comhairle and was for a long time also ‘Father of the house’ (an honour which Enda Kenny now holds).
The Father of Seamus Pattison, James Pattison also served as a TD from 1932-51 and 1954-57.

Fianna Fail proposed changing the voting system to that similar to the UK
The Third Amendment of the Constitution Bill, 1968, proposes
To substitute for the present system of voting at Dáil elections the “straight vote” system in single-member constituencies;
To establish a Commission to determine constituencies, subject to the right of the Dáil to amend the constituencies as so determined; and
To provide that whenever the Dáil is dissolved the outgoing Ceann Comhairle may be returned, without a contest, as a second deputy for a constituency chosen by him which consists of, or includes a part of, the constituency he represented before the dissolution.

Orla Guerin -Labour -Leaflet 2- 1994 European Elections Dublin. February 5, 2010
The Now BBC journalist Orla Guerin from the 1994 European Elections in Dublin. Orla Guerin had been a journalist with RTE and was a national name.
She was added to the Labour Party ticket after the selection convention had selected The sitting MEP Bernie Malone, who had been co-opted to replace Barry Desmond.
Many within the party felt that Malone may struggle to hold on to the seat, especially under pressure from The Democratic Left and The Workers Party.
There was a great rivalry between Malone and Guerin and it added to the campaign.
In the end Bernie Malone won a seat, although Orla Guerin polled well.
Michael Bell- Labour Party -Louth 2002 GE February 3, 2010
Veteran Labour politician Michael Bell from the 2002 General Election in Louth. Michael Bell lost his seat in the 2002 election, a seat he had held since November 1982.
