Leaflets from Eamon De Valera from the historic 1917 East Clare by-election campaign. De Valera defeated Patrick Lynch of the Irish Party. Many thanks to the sender.
There are details and background to the campaign here

Leaflets from Eamon De Valera 1917 East Clare by-election September 1, 2011
From 1923 “Vote for Sinn Fein and your own Unpartitioned Republic” August 27, 2011
From the 1923 General Election Ads from Sinn Fein decrying unfair treatment from the authorities. “Loading the Dice -Terrorism all over the Country”.

A “Vote Paisley” Sticker -Ian Paisley -DUP June 3, 2011
An old sticker for former Northern Ireland First Minister and DUP leader Ian Paisley that I got my hands on recently. I’m not sure which election its from although I suspect its probably from the 90s

From 1988 “Civil Rights and Demonstrations in Israel” – Conservative Friends of Israel May 25, 2011
Not Irish and a bit away from what I normally post , however I figured it was worth posting as an interesting piece of political ephemera.(I’ll be posting more material in due course from the 80s both from groups sympathetic to Israel and those sympathetic to Palestine).
This particular paper was published in 1988 by the Conservative Friends of Israel, a body within the British Conservative Party. Its basically pro Israeli propaganda with questions and answers on “Civil Rights and Demonstrations in Israel”.
A Selection of Old UK Labour Party Election Posters April 22, 2011
Was sent these images (many thanks) of old UK Labour Party posters. They cover all sorts of issues from War to Paid Holidays. Enjoy

“Per l’onore d’Italia”- A Mussollini sugar sachet January 14, 2011
Not Irish I know but…. A friend was away in Italy and brought me back this a sugar sachet with ‘Il Duce’ on it. Unusual to say the least.
I presume “Per l’onore d’Italia ” is for the honour of Italy but I’m not too sure of its connotations.
Another old FF Election Poster “The Nation Needs Now! Clear Policy, Effective Leadership -Vote Fianna Fail” November 27, 2010
Another old Fianna Fail Election poster that is dripping with irony.
“The Nation Needs Now! Clear Policy, Effective Leadership -Vote Fianna Fail”

Enda Kennys website from May 2002 September 24, 2010
Another in the continuing series of old websites….
This time Enda Kennys from 2002.
Not much to it , a profile of Enda, clinic details and Statements from Enda ranging in topic from ‘Two additional Garda for Mayo’ to “Taoiseach must raise plight of Palestinians with President Bush ” as ever with archived sites not all links work.
Click HERE or on the image below to enter the site.
There are also hidden links on the side to events, membership and links.
From 2003…Ivor Calellys “History Of Leinster House” Leaflet September 22, 2010
From 2003…Ivor Calellys “History Of Leinster House” Leaflet. It was provided for tours of Leinster House that I presume Ivor arranged.
Aside from the welcome from Ivor the visitor will be starstruck as “The Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D. on behalf of the government and all the members of the Irish House of Parliament extends a cead mile failte to all visitors to this
historical democratic Parliament.”
1927 County Tipperary Labour Bulletin August 18, 2010
Was sent these images (many thanks). A 1927 County Tipperary Labour Bulletin. There were two elections in 1927 so I’m not sure which campaign this comes from.
Daniel Morrissey was a Labour TD, became an Independent , switched to Cumann na nGaedheal and then became a Fine Gael TD. He was a TD from 1922 to 1954.
The William O’Brien mentioned is probably ‘William X. O’Brien’ who (according to wikipedia) was “A close friend and associate of James Connolly. O’Brien helped establish the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union in 1909, and was instrumental in the Dublin Lockout strike in 1913″….. “O’Brien was elected as TD for Dublin South at the 1922 general election, and again for Tipperary in June 1927 and again in 1937”.
The details of the campaign are covered including meetings, canvassing, transport and The Register of electors.
Apologies for the size of the text.
Éamon de Valera -‘We Got Him Out To Put Him In’ poster August 16, 2010
Was sent this image. I presume from the 1917 General Election a poster for Eamon De Valera. The slogan of ‘We Got Him Out To Put Him In’ is excellent.

‘The Strength Of Sinn Fein’ – 1934 Ard Fheis Presidential Address by Rev. Michael O’Flanagan August 10, 2010
Many many thanks to the donor.
From the 1934 Sinn Fein Ard Fheis an wonderful pamphlet of an address by Father Michael O’Flanaghan to the Party.
We get a 1934 perspective on Sinn Fein since its foundation in 1917. Goes through various topics including the first split in 1922 and the second split in 1926.
“The most important task of any organisation is to preserve the purity of its principles.” says O’Flanaghan.
A summary of Father Michael O’Flanagans life can be read here.
“The Birmingham Six , Remember Them This Christmas” -Christmas Card issued by The Birmingham Six Committee mid 80s August 8, 2010
From the mid eighties a Christmas Card issued by The Birmingham Six Committee. “The Birmingham Six , Remember Them This Christmas” . It asked the recipient to light six candles in the window on Christmas Day to show your belief in the innocence of Hugh Callaghan, Paddy Hill, Gerard Hunter, Richard McIlkenny, William Power and John Walker.
It also asked the recipients to write to Douglas Hurd, Peter Barry, TDs , MP and other bodies.
The Birmingham Six were wrongly convicted of the 1974 Birmingham Pub Bombings and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1975. After a long campaign they were released in 1991.
Many thanks to the Sender.
