With this Card may I wish you all a Happy Christmas and New Year. A New Year that I’m sure will have me busy with the forthcoming Election.
Many thanks for all those who’ve sent stuff throughout the year, its much appreciated. Its nice to post material other than my own which broadens the scope of the material posted. As ever should you get a leaflet or the like I’d love a copy (or the original).

From the 2009 Local Elections a leaflet for the Taoiseachs brother Barry Cowen and Sinead Dooley running for Offaly County Council in the Tullamore LEA. Sinead Dooley is Brian Cowens Personal Assistant.
The Leaflet contains a slogan I’d hazard wont be on Fianna Fails 2011 Election Material …”It Happened Under Fianna Fails Watch”

Joan Burtons Christmas Message to voters.
From the 2009 Dublin South By-Election a leaflet from Fianna Fail candidate Shay Brennan. Brennan the son of the Late Seamus Brennan , whos passing caused the By-Election, polled 9,250 votes in a contest won on the first count by Fine Gael Superstar George Lee.
Was sent these images, alas the sender does not have better quality images or the inside pages of the cards.
The first Christmas Card for Domestic abuse victims is very good and were anyone to have a better quality image or indeed the full card I’d love to post it.
We also have a card from the Orange Order and one of Marx with a Santa hat.
A letter to voters from Alan Farrell, the recently selected Fine Gael candidate for Dublin North.
In the letter Councillor Farrell introduces himself to voters.
Another series of posters (other bunch here) from Militant, The Socialist Party and Young Socialists that I was sent recently. Most if not all are for Rally’s in Belfast.
Amongst the subjects covered are The Miners Strike, Apartheid , Trotsky and the Poll Tax.
Alas the quality and size are poor but they may well be of interest none the less .
From the 2007 General Election a flyer from Fianna Fails Micheál Martin running in Cork South Central. The Flyer has the catchy slogan ‘Securing Cork’s Future’. Michael Martin was elected easily topping the poll with well over a quota.
From the 1985 Local Elections a personal letter from Liam Kavanagh Minister for the Environment to the Voters of Bray.
In it he mentions money being provided for amongst other projects the Bray/Shankill By-Pass. Reading it reminded me of those horrendous tailbacks at Shankill and Little Bray.
For the Council the Labour candidates were John Byrne, Barbara Hyland (who later stood as an Independent) and Nancy Mahony running for Wicklow County Council and Paddy Mooney and Siobhan Turner joining them on the ticket for the elections to Bray UDC.

from the Galway Advertiser.
From the 2002 Abortion Referendum a leaflet from a group called Ireland For Life urging a No Vote.
I’m not sure who was behind Ireland For Life.
From Bertie and Cyprian a Christmas card with the message
“Thank You and Best Wishes for Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year” – ‘From Your Local TDs -Fianna Fail’.
Inside we’ve a garish picture of Bertie and one of Cyprian also. We get to read about all the good news in Dublin Central over the past year.
At the back is a lovely picture of St Lukes with details of Clinic Times and contact details.

From the forthcoming General Election a Poster for Cian Prendiville of the Socialist Party running in the Limerick City constituency.
Its the first bit of election material I’ve seen referring to the United Left Alliance.

At 21 he is, to the best of my knowledge, the youngest general election candidate .
From the 2007 General election a flyer for Fianna Fails Noel Dempsey running in Meath West.
Dempsey topped the poll and was elected on the first count.
A Leaflet from An Chomhdháil Phobail | The People’s Convention (CPPC) . Their Website is cppc.ie.
Its an interesting idea of the Peoples Convention.
