From the Autumn 2005 edition of the Fianna Fail paper ‘The Nation’ a transcript of a speech given by then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to the Fianna Fail Parliamentary Party meeting in Cavan on September 5th 2005. The headline of “Fianna Fail Will Never Take Risks With The Economy” particularly caught my eye. You may notice too that the statement was made at Sean Quinn’s Slieve Russel Hotel.

From the run up to the 2007 General Election a flyer from then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern ‘Not Just At Election Time’ . The flyer gives details of Advice centres, his availability and that even if hes not present that he will ‘Personally deal with the query later’. For groups or organisations there were invites to make ‘Special Arrangements’ to meet him in St Lukes.
From 1999 a postcard to be sent to the then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern on behalf of the residents of Garvaghy Road calling on the Taoiseach to ensure that the parade from Drumcree Church was rerouted away from The Garvaghy Road.

From the 2007 General Election campaign in Meath East , an invitation from Fianna Fail TD Mary Wallace to a visit by ‘An Taoiseach , Mr Bertie Ahern T.D.’ to Dunboyne. Light refreshments were being had at the Dunboyne Castle Hotel.
From the 1992 General Election a letter to voters in Dublin Central an “Election Message from Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D., Minister for Finance”. He topped the poll with 11,374 votes but neither of his running mates Dermot Fitzpatrick or Olga Bennett were elected.
In 2004 Bertie Ahern proclaimed himself to be a Socialist. This leaflet from the Socialist Workers Party refers to that with “Bertie says he is a socialist…. Get the Real Thing! ” .
From Easter 1984 “On my own Behalf and on behalf of all my family I would like to wish you a very happy Easter” writes then Minister for Finance Bertie Ahern. We have a detailed letter and also clinic times.
