Noel did train to be a priest but left to join another cult … but maybe he still has a direct line to god and god told his to get out (of Fianna Fail) while the getting is good. And he’ll get a goodly parting gift. Most memorable incident to me about Noel was the stone-face he put on in the face of Michael O’Brien’s onslaught on Q&A in 2009. The stone-face reminscent somewhat of the stone-faces (and stone hearts) of the Religious Orders in Ferryhouse and elsewhere. Maybe stone-faces are de rigueur for a job in the clergy; perhaps a future career there for Noel and he has done plenty of training for it in Fianna Fail AND the seminary.
