From the mid 80s a pamphlet from Red Wedge “Fact Not Fiction Series” No. 1.
It outlines the priorities of the project which was aimed at Youth. They were training, Unemployment, Allowances, Low Pay, Gay Rights, Housing and Internationalism.
Red Wedge was a collective of artists and musicians who came together in opposition to the Conservative government of Margaret Thatcher. They worked closely with the Labour Party, organising gigs and public meetings in support of their effort to defeat Thatcher in the 1987 election.
Amongst the artists involved were Billy Bragg, The Style Council, The Communards and Jerry Dammers. Others that made guest appearances included Madness, Prefab Sprout, Tom Robinson, Lloyd Cole and The Smiths.

Not Irish I know, but thought it may be of interest. The first issue of a newsletter “Front-Line” from week 48 of the Miners Strike in the UK. It was produced by striking Nottingham miners. As 1984 closes they look forward to “Victory in 85”.
I’ve a few more of these that I’ll post in due course.

Got this recently , a leaflet from the ‘Ulster Democratic Unionist Association Co. Londonderry’, outlining their aims and objectives. I think its from the early 80s but can’t be sure. I can’t find anything online about them. I presume that they were linked to the Democratic Unionist Party.
If anyone has any details of the group I’d love to know.

From the 1991 Local Elections a flyer from Progressive Democrat candidate Mairin Hyland who was running for a seat on Kildare County Council in the Celbridge LEA. She polled 372 votes and failed to win a seat.

Picked this leaflet from Shane Ross up today outside the Motor Taxation Office in Nutgrove Shopping Centre. From talking to the gents manning the table with the petition its due to close by the end of December. Given the Shopping Centre is under enough pressure from having Dundrum in its vicinity, the closure can only put more pressure on the various outlets in the centre.
I was informed too that Ross is the only local TD taking an interest in the issue. He is the only opposition TD in Dublin South!

In 1975 the UK held a Referendum on withdrawal from the EEC (there was no Referendum on the UK’s entry to the EEC) . The Referendum asked
Do you think the UK should stay in the European Community (Common Market)?
17,378,581 (67.2%) voted Yes and 8,470,073 (32.8%) voted No.
This Leaflet is calling for a No vote and is published by former Liberal MP Air Vice Marshal Don Bennett.
