From the 1987 General Election a small flyer for Fianna Fail candidates Mary McAlesse, Gerard Brady, Michael Donnelly and Eoin Ryan running in Dublin South East. Of the four only Gerard Brady was elected. Mary McAleese polled 2,243 votes.

Leaflet from Tom Foxe -1992 General Election- Longford Roscommon
From the 1992 General Election a leaflet for Tom Foxe of the The Roscommon Hospital Action Committee (H.A.C.). Foxe was first elected in the 1989 General Election (leaflet here) and in the 1991 Local Elections he topped the poll in the Roscommon Electoral area bring ing in a running mate Eithne Quinn. You see a reference to Post Office closures being averted in the leaflet, At least 2 Councillors were elected on anti postal cuts platform in the 1991 Local Elections in Roscommon.
In this 1992 election he was elected. He lost his seat in 1997.

From the 1989 General Election a leaflet from Labour Party candidate for Tipperary North John Ryan. As the European Elections were also held on the same day the leaflet asks for votes for the Labour Party European candidates in Munster Michael Ferris and Eileen Desmond.
“You can vote against these Savage Cuts and Injustices” is something that would be apt today. Indeed many of the issues are the same, just add a burst property bubble to them.
In this election John Ryan failed to win back the seat he lost in 1987, although he later regained the seat in 1992 (his record at Electionsireland.org)

From the 2011 Seanad Elections an interesting Leaflet from Tipperary Fianna Fail councillor John Hogan who is running for a seat on the Agricultural Panel.
Hogan opens with an attack on Fianna Fail … “..I watched the party self destruct with arrogance” as well as hitting out at conventions. Its very much geared towards a Fianna Fail audience.

From the 1994 Dublin South Central by-election a leaflet from Progressive Democrat candidate Cait Keane. Keane polled 1,881 votes in a contest won by The Democratic Lefts Eric Byrne.
Keane was first elected to the Council in 1991 and has held a seat since. After the demise of the PDs she joined Fine Gael and canme close to winning a seat in Dublin South West in 2011.

Amongst his policies were “A 32 County organisation” and “Promoting the right of Local Cumann to make decisions and to return the power to the grassroots of the party”
I’m not sure if he was elected or not.

From the 2011 General Election campaign a letter from Bertie Ahern to voters in Dublin Central in support of Fianna Fail candidate Cyprian Brady.
In the letter Bertie , amongst other things, expresses ‘regret’ for all those that have lost their jobs as well as extolling Cyprians virtues.
Anti Rod Licence Ad from the 1989 General Election urging a vote for anti Rod Licence candidates. April 6, 2011
From the 1989 General Election an Ad from the Corrib Anglers and Boatmen against the controversial Rod Licence Legislation introduced by Fianna Fail. The Ad urges votes for 5 candidates who were against the Legislation.
In that 1989 Election, an Anti Rod Licence candidate, Frank Durcan ran in Mayo West polling a very respectable 5,187 votes.

Amongst the issues mentioned in the leaflet are Jobs, Prices, Family planning law, divorce, equal pay , Peace, land and Fishing

Fianna Fail ad on Taxation from the 1979 Local Elections April 4, 2011
From the 1979 European Elections an Ad for Fianna Fail focused on its Taxation policy. A fair balance of Taxation was a major issue at the time with Tax marches having taken place earlier that year and later on in the 1980s.
