A leaflet with details of the ‘Forum of The United Left Alliance’ to be held on Saturday 25th June in Liberty Hall.
THE GROUPS and individuals who came together to launch
the ULA are confident that it can grow significantly by both fighting the attacks alongside people in the communities and the workplaces, but also by having policies that respond to the crisis and not at our expense!
THE ULA National Forum will discuss developing those ideas and policies but also the next steps in turning the ULA into a new mass working class party.

First off many thanks to the sender. This poster is from a group called SAC and appeared over Dublin in the mid 80s (1987?) .
“THINK -Thought Kills All Known Clerics. Dead.” was a play on an ad for a popular detergent. The image also has nuns and priests going down the toilet.
More details about the poster and SAC in the clippings from Hot Press below the poster.

Not sure when exactly this Old Fianna Fail Poster is from, although I suspect it is from the 1932 General Election. Variations of the slogan “Mr Cosgrave Will Think More About The Unemployed After The Elections – He’ll be One of Them” have been used over the years.
Many thanks to the sender.
A 2007 General Election leaflet from Fine Gael candidate Bill Tormey running in Dublin North West. Former Labour man Tormey polled 3,083 votes and didn’t win a seat. Dr Bill , a Shamrock Rovers Fan, uses a fair few Election Leaflet cliches in the leaflet…… “They Say its going to be close”, “There is only one way to change the Government This Thursday”, “Your Vote Counts” and other cliches
From the 2011 General Election a leaflet from Sinn Feins Martin Ferris running in Kerry North West Limerick with the slogan “Because You deserve Better”. Ferris was comfortably elected.

From the 1997 General Election a flyer from Michael McDowell of the Progressive Democrats running in Dublin South East. In the leaflet he attacks the “The Tax and Spend Rainbow?” the rainbow being The Rainbow Coalition of Fine Gael, Labour and Democratic Left. He also mentions a 4 and a half party patchwork Rainbow that would have included The Greens and Independents.

The blurb with the Video states…
My background is defined by a lifetime of work with local, national and international voluntary organisations, from my time as a teacher in St. Michael’s House in Ballymun to my current role as the Managing Director of Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia, working across 58 countries.
It is this breadth of experience that I bring to this campaign, and I hope to have the opportunity to put this before the people in the autumn of this year.
I want to play a leadership role in making change happen, to inspire reform and renewal at home whilst rebuilding our place in the wider world. To be a practical President, in the service of the Irish people.
I will be travelling the country in the coming weeks, seeking the support of local representatives to secure a nomination for President. But I will need your help too. So please, sign up and get involved. Get in touch with your ideas and lets begin a campaign about the kind of future we can create together.
Not Irish and a bit away from what I normally post , however I figured it was worth posting as an interesting piece of political ephemera.(I’ll be posting more material in due course from the 80s both from groups sympathetic to Israel and those sympathetic to Palestine).
This particular paper was published in 1988 by the Conservative Friends of Israel, a body within the British Conservative Party. Its basically pro Israeli propaganda with questions and answers on “Civil Rights and Demonstrations in Israel”.
From the 2011 General Election a letter to small business people from Denis Naughten of Fine Gael running in Roscommon South Leitrim. Amongst the items covered is a quote from The Sunday Independent that “SF swing can make Gilmore Taoiseach” and that a vote for any other candidate or party is a vote for “a Government of the Far Left”
From the 2011 General Election a Labour Party flyer with the headline “Families Need A Fair & Balanced Government”. On the reverse is the headline “Families need Labour in Government” with details as to why.
An Anti Section 31 poster from Sinn Fein from the early 80s. Under Section 31 of the Broadcasting Act, it was forbidden to broadcast the voice of Sinn Féin members.
Many thanks to the sender.
