“Trade Unionist Takes on RTE censorship”- Larry O’Toole related Anti Section 31 leaflet from the Free Speech Legal Fund February 8, 2012
A fascinating leaflet this from the Free Speech Legal Fund a group opposed to Section 31 of the broadcasting act.
In 1990 there was a strike at Gateaux and amongst those elected to the strike committee was Sinn Fein member Larry O’Toole. He was banned from speaking on the national airwaves in his role as a Union Official due to his membership of Sinn Fein.
The Free Speech Legal Fund was to fund a case asking the High Court for a judicial review of “RTE’s illegal extension of Section 31”

“Save Ulster with the Ulster Democratic Unionist Association” Leaflet ..from the early 80s? November 30, 2011
Got this recently , a leaflet from the ‘Ulster Democratic Unionist Association Co. Londonderry’, outlining their aims and objectives. I think its from the early 80s but can’t be sure. I can’t find anything online about them. I presume that they were linked to the Democratic Unionist Party.
If anyone has any details of the group I’d love to know.

From the 1973 Border Poll (also known as the Northern Ireland Sovereignty Referendum) a poster from the Official Republican Movement urging a Boycott of the poll. The figure in the poster I think is that of the then Northern Ireland Secretary, William Whitelaw.
There were two choices and 591,280 people voted to stay part of the UK whilst , due to the boycott, just 6,463 voted in favour of a United Ireland.
I’ve a Ballot,Envelope, Polling card etc from the poll posted Here .

A leaflet from the National H-Block Committee advertising a “Mass National Lobby and March” in Dublin on the 22nd November 1980.
The Hunger strike of 1980 was the precursor to the 1981 Hunger Strike where ten men died. It began in Long Kesh in October 1980 with Brendan Hughes, Tom McFeeley, Sean McKenna, Leo Green, Tommy McKearney , Raymond McCartney and John Nixon all going on hunger strike for the 5 demands listed below.
Having received assurances that the five demands would be met on a phased basis the hunger strike was stopped on the 18th of December 1980. The assurances were not followed up upon and on the first of March 1981 the ‘second’ Hunger Strike began.
