From the 1997 General Election the dashing Fianna Fail candidate Dick Roche.
Amongst other things we learn that Dick was the ‘first Irish winner of United Nations Human Rights Fellowship, 1978’. It was Dicks lobbying that got a new sewage plant in Greystones.
Theres plenty more in the leaflet which appears to be tailored towards the Greystones area.

The generic Fianna Fail leaflet that went through the doors at election time throughout the country for the 2007 General Election. A young Martin Cullen from his first General Election in 1987. Martin Cullen had been an Independent councillor(as his father had been too) before joining the PDs.
Here in 1987 he was ‘A fighter for Waterford’ …….

Chris Andrews is son of Niall Andrews, grandson of Todd Andrews, nephew of David Andrews and of course a cousin of amongst others Dun Laoghaire TD Barry Andrews and RTEs Ryan Tubridy.
Again for a Dublin South East based candidate the background for the photo is the Pidgeon house. Amongst the issues covered here are the needs for Taxi deregulation and more recycling and better waste management.

From the 1985 Local Elections, The Fianna Fail candidates for Blackrock Anne Brady, Michael Cotter and Paddy Madigan. As far as I’m aware Anne Brady and Paddy Madigan were elected. Paddy Madigan was elected again in 1991. He then fell out with Fianna Fail (or they fell out with him) somewhere along the way and ran as an Independent in the 1994 European Elections and the 1997 General Election.
Michael Cotter ran again in 1991 and failed to win a seat. He is a Lecturer/ Academic in DCU.

Frank Chambers- Fianna Fail -Mayo 2007 March 1, 2010
From the 2007 General election in Mayo, Fianna Fail candidate Frank Chambers. In a tight contest it was always going to be hard for Chambers to win a seat, especially with Beverly Cooper-Flynn running as an Independent.
Of the 3 Fianna Fail candidates only Dara Callery was elected.

From the 1997 General Election, the now Irish Times Pundit Noel Whelan with running Mate Eoin Ryan on the Fianna Fail Ticket in Dublin South East. Ryan was elected.
A fairly detailed version of ‘New Kid on the block’ Whelans career, which is impressive. At 28 he was the parties youngest candidate in Dublin.
Also in the “Protecting Home Buyers Rights” section…
‘Many young people are also deeply concerned about escalating house costs and the current over heating of the Dublin property market….’
Charles Haughey- Message to Electorate Fianna Fail 1987
The generic Fianna Fail 1987 leaflet which would have had candidate details inside. The Message from Charles Haughey to the electorate is interesting.
In similar enough times to now, Haughey had an emphasis on providing employment.
“..People are looking for leadership, for the restoration of confidence and better management of their affairs..”
*A 6 page version of The Programme for National Recovery’ is posted here

She failed to win a seat in both the 2002 and 2007 General Elections. However she was appointed to the Seanad by then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in 2007.
WIth the passing of Seamus Brennan and Tom Kitts impending retirement she is thought to have a good chance of winning a Fianna Fail nomination for the next election.

Joe Behan -Fianna Fail (now Independent)-2007 GE Wicklow February 22, 2010
From the 2007 General election. The now Independent TD Joe Behan when running for Fianna Fail in Wicklow. He is full of praise for outgoing Independent TD Mildred Fox.
Joe Behan has been a councillor since 1985, so would be well acquainted with many of the problems in Wicklow and indeed well set up to hold his seat.
The Green Agenda, Farming, commuting,Housing and Education (Joe Behan is an ex Primary School Principal and Teacher) are the main issues he asks for support upon.
