Great leaflet this from the 2009 Local and European Elections campaign, Fine Gael saying that its “Payback Time” for Tax increases , unemployment and cuts in other areas. The image of Brian Lenihans budget getting a standing ovation is also given prominence.
The leaflet distributed in Dublin West has a messages from candidate Eithne Loftus , one from Leo Varadkar about getting your tax back and a vote for Gay Mitchell in Europe part too.
From the 2009 European Elections in Dublin, a flyer from outgoing Fianna Fail MEP Eoin Ryan. Previously a Councillor, Senator and TD, Ryan was elected as an MEP in 2004.
In this 2009 Election he lost his seat.
From the 2009 European Elections a Flyer from Fianna Fail candidate Pat the Cope Gallagher. The Donegal based Gallagher polled 82,643 and won a seat. He had previously served as an MEP from 1994 to 2004.
From the 2009 Local Elections in Tallaght South a flyer for Fine Gael candidates Brian Lawlor and Karren Warren. Lawlor won a seat whilst Karren Warren was unsuccessful.
We also have a smiling Gay Mitchell looking for a vote too.

From the 2009 European Elections a leaflet for Sinn Fein candidate Pádraig Mac Lochlainn running in North-West. Pádraig Mac Lochlainn polled 45,515 votes, just over 9% of the total poll and failed to win a seat.
He is seen as a contender in Donegal North East at the next General Election. In 2007 he was second on the first count but failed to attract sufficient transfers to put him over the line.
From the 2009 European Elections a leaflet for Independent candidate Michael McNamara running in the North West constituency. He polled 12,744 votes.

Simons polled 13,514 votes (3.32%).
Interestingly her involvement in various pro life groups isn’t mentioned , although it does state that she is a governor of The National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street.

“Declan is a family man from Abbeyknockmoy….came back to Ireland as a teenager when he cut turf on the bog and sold it at the market,investing his money in shares while he was still in school”
He also refers to the Turf cutting later on in the leaflet.

Sean Downey ran for Sinn Féin in the 2009 local elections for Newbridge Town Council and Kildare County Council. He was the first SF candidate in over 20 years in the town and recieved 662 votes in the county and 245 in the town, Sean was not elected.
Also included are the Sinn Fein European Election candidates Kathleen Funchion and Tomas Sharkey.
