From the 1985 Local elections a letter to voters from Fine Gael candidate Muriel O Tiarnaigh. Muriel O Tiarnaigh failed to get in. I think her colleagues Michael Joe Cosgrave and Joan Maher were elected.
Muriels husband the late Riocard O Tiarnaigh was well known in sailing circles and there is a race the ‘Riocard O’ Tiarnaigh Challenge’ named after him.
Muriel was a member of the influential Womens Political Association.

A problem between a search for a Fine Gael Councillor, the Fine Gael Website and Google? August 18, 2010
Over the last few weeks I happened to be doing searches for Fine Gael councillors.
Often the first result is the profile from the Fine Gael website.
Here I searched for Fine Gael councillor Donal Marren, but its the same issue for all of them.
Click on the link and you get brought to http://www.finegael.org/
You’d wonder how long this has been the case?
Regina Doherty -Fine Gael -Meath East 2007 GE August 13, 2010
From the 2007 General Election a leaflet fro Fine Gael candidate Regina Doherty running in Meath East. She polled well but missed out on a seat.
Like a lot of Fine Gael leaflets from 2007 there was little or nothing about the candidate themselves.
‘Sick of hearing about Irelands problems?’ -Pat Crimmins -Fine Gael -2009 LE Donaghmede August 10, 2010
From the 2009 Local Elections a leaflet for successful Fine Gael candidate Pat Crimmins running in Donaghmede.
Little or nothing about the candidate (which from looking at some 2009 and 2007 Fine Gael material is less than unusual) other than a photo.
It does concentrate on waste, unemployment and job creation. Nothing in it about the Banking crisis.

Discussion Paper on Forestry from the 1985 Fine Gael Ard Fheis August 6, 2010
From the 1985 Fine Gael Ard Fheis a discussion paper on Forestry. In the mid 80s Forestry was seen as a long term jobs provider. Trees grew faster in Ireland than in Scandinavia and also grew on bad land.

Leaflet with details of the 2007 Fine Gael Ard Fheis July 22, 2010
From 2007 a leaflet for the 2007 Fine Gael Ard Fheis to be held in City West. The Ard Fheis was a number of weeks before the Election and there is a rousing message from Enda.
“This is it!” writes Enda … “The future of this country is up to us. Because, In Fine Gael, we don’t want to win just to keep the seats warm. No. We want to win so we can make a difference….”
There is also a ‘Whats Happening..’ section where we see that the music on the Saturday Night is provided by The Heartbeats (On their Website they list Bertie Ahern as one of their previous Clients).
‘The Shadow Of The Gunman -Keep It From Your Home’ and other Cumann na nGaedhael Posters July 20, 2010
The famous ‘The Shadow Of The Gunman -Keep It From Your Home’ Poster from Cumann na nGaedhael. It was from the 1932 General Election. The other Posters I think are from 1932 also.
There was some imagination used in the making of the posters and through some of the messages you can see that The Civil War was still fresh in the Poster Designers minds.
Many thanks to the sender.

Kieran O’Donnell -Fine Gael -Limerick East 2007 GE July 8, 2010

Shane McEntee ‘Gaelic Football man through and through’ -Fine Gael -2005 Meath by election June 26, 2010
A wonderful little Card from Fine Gaels Shane McEntee from the 2005 Meath by Election campaign.
In it he reminds us of his and his families GAA pedigree with Meaths 2005 NFL and NHL fixtures on the reverse.
Shane McEntee won the by-election.

From 2002 Paul McGraths Irish World Cup Fixture Guide -Fine Gael -2002 GE June 20, 2010
The 2002 General Election was held on the 17th of May. World Cup Fever wasn’t quite at its height as the Roy Keane Saipan saga didn’t fully start until the 21st of May.
This is a card from Fine Gaels Paul McGrath with his details on the front and the world cup fixtures on the reverse. A number of candidates produced similar cards.
The TDs namesake had retired in 1998.
