The leaflet mentions some of the 2002 promises from Fianna Fail and gives a progress report on them.

From the Progressive Democrats in 2007 advertising a website called rainbowsplits.ie where all the differences between Pat Rabbitte and Enda Kennys parties were pointed out.
Another in the continuing series of old websites….
This time Enda Kennys from 2002.
Not much to it , a profile of Enda, clinic details and Statements from Enda ranging in topic from ‘Two additional Garda for Mayo’ to “Taoiseach must raise plight of Palestinians with President Bush ” as ever with archived sites not all links work.

The “John Bruton TD, makes New Year pledge to internet users” is very much of the time…. He begins with….
“I spent many hours over Christmas happily surfing the Internet. I visited all sorts of home pages all over the world, and reflected a little on what makes some pages interesting and others not so interesting……”
As ever not all links on the old website may work.

From around 1997 A Christian Solidarity Party Manifesto containing “specific proposals in Summary form”.
At that time, led by Gerard Casey (who polled 2000 votes in the 1997 Election in Dun Laoghaire) the policies here seemed reasonable enough especially compared to some of their later material.

An Ógra Shinn Féin leaflet on Third Level Fees from 2008 with the slogan “Educate to be Free”.
The Leaflet mentions education cutbacks on both sides of the border. The cost of living and other issues facing Third level students. (many thanks to the sender)

After another poke around on the Wayback Machine…….. The Democratic Left website from November 1998, a few months before the merger with Labour.
There is a section on its Objectives, its ‘people’, press releases and policies.

From 2003…Ivor Calellys “History Of Leinster House” Leaflet. It was provided for tours of Leinster House that I presume Ivor arranged.
Aside from the welcome from Ivor the visitor will be starstruck as “The Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D. on behalf of the government and all the members of the Irish House of Parliament extends a cead mile failte to all visitors to this
historical democratic Parliament.”
A membership form for the newly founded Irish Democratic Party.
From their website ...
“The Irish Democratic Party is a new political movement in Ireland. Formed by a group of ordinary concerned citizens who witnessed on a daily basis the crippling deficit of leadership in Irish political life, the IDP’s aim is to establish a democratic, accountable and verifiable republic in Ireland.”
I was sent these gems (many thanks), I’m not sure if there was anything on the backs of them. Dail Wars and Pizza Delivery, totally bizarre. Mary Harney as Luke Skywalker!
I gather that they were produced by the Young Progressive Democrats around 2005.
I got sent this (many thanks), the 95 page “A Lot done, More to Do” Fianna Fail 2002-2007 Manifesto.
I wouldn’t normally post something so large but thought it may be of interest.
I’ve uploaded the PDF to HERE.
Or just click on the image below to launch it.
From the 2004 Local and European Election Campaign a leaflet from Fine Gael entitled
“A Manifesto for Young Ireland” .
Included are a message from Enda Kenny and also “11 Reasons to Vote Fine Gael on June 11”.
Some of the eleven reasons are indicative of the time. The first one being First Time Buyers.
The First Time Buyer plans included a “Housing Deposit Scheme, similar to an SSIA, giving €1 for every €3 saved by first time buyers towards a deposit on a house“. there was also a promise to abolish stamp duty on second hand homes for first time buyers up to €400,000 and to “frontload mortgage interest relief“.
Other areas included Rip off Ireland, Insurance for Young Drivers, College Fees, Youth Suicide, Farming, Jobs and Public Transport.

The millennium had us all a tizz. The Millennium Bug, Millennium clock and lots more.
Here in late 1999 Bertie Ahern gives us the “Taoiseach’s Special Millennium Message”.
The first paragraph of Berties Tome……
“A new hour, a new day, a new dawn and a new age. Our millennium will be different and special to each and every one of us – whether we work in the home, in a factory or on a farm, in the emerging technologies, because we will be working together for one ideal. But we will be united in seeking to work together for that one ideal, a better more equal and caring society… ”
Enjoy the rest….
A 2003 leaflet from Sinn Fein accusing Unionists of playing “The Orange Card”.
It was 5 years on from the Good Friday Agreement and the Assembly Elections were postponed and then canceled.
The Leaflet advertises a protest against the canceling of the Elections.
Thought this of interest, a flyer for a meeting organised by Labour Councillor Aidan Culhane, with amongst others Joan Burton speaking, on how to deal with Management companies.
Ten years ago few of us had any dealings with them but the upsurge in Management companies was a side effect of the property boom. Most new Estates and Apartment Blocks rather than have the council maintain them had Management Companies. Indeed often (if not always) the first years management fee had to be paid when buying a property. Often Management Companies were set up by the developers so they made on the double.
As times have got harder its another bill that in the current climate is often back of the queue for paying, so in some developments less than 50% of homeowners would have paid.
There is also a problem that in some contracts, you cannot sell unless the management fees are up to date.
Might be an interesting talk.
Many thanks to the sender.
