I gather the chap who owns Carrolls gift stores is one of the main people behind the campaign.
From the little I’ve read on the topic ….it looks as if they are afraid of something similar to what happened on Harcourt Street during the building of the LUAS lines. A number of businesses failed due to the street being a construction site. They also received no compensation and still had to pay their rates to the City Council. (I may be wrong though)

From the 1997 General Election a leaflet from Progressive Democrat candidate Helen Keogh with the striking headline “How to Double Your Vote on Friday”.
By voting for Helen Keogh you were also voting to put Mary Harney into government, hence doubling your vote.
Helen Keogh lost her seat.
Cieran Perry leaflet showing local issues he’d worked on -Independent- 2007 General Election Dublin Central
A leaflet produced by Independent candidate Cieran Perry in late 2006 detailing issues that he had been involved with. The range of issues gives an indication of what an active Local Representative is involved in.
In 2009 Cieran Perry was elected to Dublin City Council.

A flyer from Cllr Martin Heydon ‘Your General Election Candidate’. Hendon was selected by Fine Gael to be a candidate in Kildare South. He polled 1,980 votes in the Athy Ward in 2009.
Ruairi Quinn Leaflet -1992 General Election -Dublin South East
From the 1992 General Election a leaflet from Labour candidate in Dublin South East Ruairi Quinn. Quinn polled 10,381 votes and was elected on the first count with well over a quota.
On the front of the leaflet is Ruairi Quinn with Dick Spring and a nice message from Spring.
On the inside is a critique of the FF/PD government. There were 300,000 unemployed. Major Property Owners and farmers were amongst those that Labour wanted to pay their ‘Fair Share’ in Tax.

From the 2007 General election a flyer for Fianna Fail candidate Billy Kelleher running in Cork North Central. Kelleher, who was first elected in 1997, topped the poll and was elected on the first count.
He is a cousin of former Fine Gael TD Liam Burke.
Billy Kelleher was appointed Minister of State with responsibility for Trade and Commerce in early 2009.

“Who do they think they’re fooling this time?” asks this 2004 Leaflet from the Labour Party. The ‘They’ in this case being Fianna Fail .
The leaflet mentions some of the 2002 promises from Fianna Fail and gives a progress report on them.
