Graham Geraghty -Fine Gael -2007 GE Meath West March 26, 2010


From the 2007 General Election, Meath footballing legend Graham Geraghty running for Fine Gael in Meath West.
It was a suprise to many when he won a nomination, especially as it meant Fine Gael running 3 candidates in a 3 seat constituency. Geraghtys running mates were Damien English and Peter Higgins. Damien English was elected.
Graham Geraghty polled 1284 votes.

Joe Doyle, William Egan -Fine Gael -1991 Local Elections- Pembroke March 22, 2010


From the 1991 Local Elections, Fine Gael candidates for the Pembroke Ward, the late Joe Doyle and William Egan.
Joe Doyle was elected. Note how in the ‘interest of the environment’ they weren’t using any posters which was unusual at the time (and indeed still is).
Joe Doyle, a former Sacristan, had two terms in the Dail, from November 1982 until 1987 and again from 1989 to 1992. He was also elected to the Seanad for two terms.

Got sent this recently (Thanks to the donor)…From the 2007 General Election Campaign a Fine Gael poster parody of the ‘Welcome to Parlon Country’ Posters.
It was also a parody of the PDs negative campaigning (‘Left Wing Government- No Thanks’ ,  ‘Single Party Government – No Thanks etc )

From the 1985 local elections for the new Dun Laoghaire Rathdown council. A Fine Gael newsletter ‘Dun Laoghaire Report’ which focuses on issues of the time in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. There are short profiles of the Fine Gael Ballybrack candidates Donal Marren, Barbara Culleton, Jim Ansboro and Steve Nalty.
Issues mentioned in the Newsletter included a proposed Planetarium on the old Pavilion site, a new third level college for Dun Laoghaire, housing grants, Dalkey Library and a proposed swimming pool in Loughlinstown Leisure centre

‘WAKE UP’ -Vinnie O’Brien -Fine Gael- Tullamore 2009 LE March 19, 2010


Is this an ad for cornflakes coming through the door?

No its ‘WAKE UP …. to a new Tullamore” from Fine Gael candidate Vinnie O’Brien in the 2009 local Elections. 
Vinnie received 185 votes and wasn’t elected to Offaly County Council.

Maurice Manning -Fine Gael -Dublin South 1992 March 18, 2010


From the 1992 General election in Dublin South, Fine Gael candidate Maurice Manning. Maurice Manning was originally elected as a TD for Dublin North East in February 1982 and held the seat until 1987. Having been elected to the Senate in 1989 this 1992 campaign was his last attempt at winning a Dail seat. He wasn’t elected and served in the Seanad until 2002.

John Connor -Fine Gael -1989 Roscommon-East Galway March 13, 2010


From the 1989 General election, Fine Gael candidate John Connor. He was elected here in 1989 and again in 1992 in the Longford-Roscommon constituency. He lost his seat in the 1997 elections and failed to regain it in 2002.

A Fine Gael membership form in Lithuanian.
My Lituanian wouldn’t be great so I’m at a loss as to what it says. (I guess Endas not fluent either so it could be saying anything about him)

Senan Griffin -Fine Gael -1999 Local elections Leixlip March 10, 2010


From the 1999 Local elections in the Leixlip Ward Fine Gael candidate Senan Griffin. Senan Griffin was elected.
There is a message from Bernard Durkan as well as one from Senan Griffin himself. His achievements include ‘Quality Footpaths’ and Grants to GAA clubs.
You will also see mention of opposition to the proposed incinerator in Kilcock. The Incinerator
proposal was turned down by An Bórd Pleanála’s who refused planning permission for the proposed plant.

The meeting was to be addressed by John Bruton.

Just got sent this. Nothing much too it only a Young Enda Kenny.
The donor dates it from the 1977 General Election where Enda Kenny topped the poll and was elected on the First Count in Mayo West.

From the 1991 Local Elections in the Buncrana LEA, Fine Gael candidates Seamus Gill , Mary McGroarty and Bernard McGuinness. Their concerns echo many of the concerns of today.
Bernard McGuinness stood in Donegal North East in 1981, 1992 and 2002 for Fine Gael but without winning a seat.

probably the only time you’ll see the then Dundalk manager, Sean Connor on an election communication.
