From the 2007 General Election, Meath footballing legend Graham Geraghty running for Fine Gael in Meath West.
It was a suprise to many when he won a nomination, especially as it meant Fine Gael running 3 candidates in a 3 seat constituency. Geraghtys running mates were Damien English and Peter Higgins. Damien English was elected.

Ciaran Murphy -Progressive Democrats – 1989 General Election Wicklow March 25, 2010
From the 1989 General Election, former Fianna Fail TD Ciaran Murphy running for the Progressive Democrats in Wicklow. He served in the Dail from 1973 until losing his seat in the November 1982 General Election.
He polled 2109 votes and was overtaken by Workers Party Candidate Dermot Tobin before being eliminated.
The request to vote 2 and 3 for Fine Gael candidates George Jones and Godfrey Timmins was reflected in a massive 72% transfer to Fine Gael.

Bernie Malone -Labour Party -1994 European Elections
From the 1994 European Elections, Labour candidate Bernie Malone. Bernie Malone , a Malahide based councillor was co-opted to replace sitting MEP Barry Desmond in 1992. She was chosen as the Labour candidate at the selection convention only for Orla Guerin to be added to the ticket. Bernie Malone wasn’t happy and the two candidates developed a ‘rivralry’.
In the end it was Bernie Malone who won a seat.

Joe Doyle, a former Sacristan, had two terms in the Dail, from November 1982 until 1987 and again from 1989 to 1992. He was also elected to the Seanad for two terms.

Vinnie received 185 votes and wasn’t elected to Offaly County Council.

Maurice Manning -Fine Gael -Dublin South 1992 March 18, 2010
From the 1992 General election in Dublin South, Fine Gael candidate Maurice Manning. Maurice Manning was originally elected as a TD for Dublin North East in February 1982 and held the seat until 1987. Having been elected to the Senate in 1989 this 1992 campaign was his last attempt at winning a Dail seat. He wasn’t elected and served in the Seanad until 2002.
