buoyed by the Spring Tide, she was elected on the first count. It was her only term as a TD. She did however serve as Minister of Education and will be remembered for the abolition of third level fees.
She lost her seat in 1997 and again failed in 2002. She is still a councillor.

The referendum took place in the aftermath of the X Case. The Leaflet is advertising a Rally and also asking voters to..
VOTE NO to this attempt to reverse the Supreme Court ruling. It allowed a 14-year old girl, pregnant by a rapist, the right to have an abortion rather than face suicide.
The proposed wording would condemn some women to death.
VOTE YES to the right to travel for abortion. 5,000 13TH do each year, but at present they can be stopped.
VOTE YES to allow women information on abortion, and counselling on all the options in a crisis pregnancy.
Michael Coyle -Fianna Fail -1999 Local Elections Drogheda East
From the 1999 Local Election in Drogheda a Sorry I missed you card from Fianna Fail candidate Michael Coyle. On the reverse are the usual array of local emergency contact numbers as well as the pound euro conversion rate and the numbers of Seamus Kirk and Dermot Ahern.
Despite polling 535 votes Michael Coyle failed to get in.
Caroline Simons -Libertas -Dublin 2009 European Elections May 18, 2010
From the 2009 European Elections campaign in Dublin, a flyer for Libertas candidate Caroline Simons.
Simons polled 13,514 votes (3.32%).
Interestingly her involvement in various pro life groups isn’t mentioned , although it does state that she is a governor of The National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street.

Garda Representative Association (GRA) Questionnaire regarding Industrial Action 2010
From February 2010 a Questionnaire from the Garda Representative Association to members. Note how it is not called a Ballot (Is that because it’s not a Union?).
Its multiple choice too.
The Section 59 of the Garda Siochana Act 2005 refered to states that a person is guilty of an offence if he or she induces, or does any act calculated to induce, any member of the Garda Siochana to withhold his or her services or to commit a breach of discipline.
There is also a receipt to be signed of the questionnaire and that was to be put in an envelope and the lot sent off to an accountants office.

Up until 2004 if your child was born in Ireland, you were entitled to citizenship.

Lots of questions with appealing populist answers.
The first question being..
“Who is Declan Ganley?”
“Declan is a family man from Abbeyknockmoy….came back to Ireland as a teenager when he cut turf on the bog and sold it at the market,investing his money in shares while he was still in school”
He also refers to the Turf cutting later on in the leaflet.
Eric Byrne Leaflet featuring only Voters -Democratic Left 1994 Dublin South Central By-Election May 16, 2010
A simple Leaflet produced by Eric Byrne for the 1994 Dublin South Central By-Election. A foldover card with pictures of four voters who say they are voting for Eric Byrne and Why. His loss by 5 votes in the 1992 General Election is mentioned.
Eric Byrne won the By-election beating amongst others Fianna Fails Michael Mulcahy and Fine Gaels Brian Hayes as well as serial Independent candidate Benny Cooney.
Byrnes By-Election victory along with that of Fine Gaels Michael Ring in Mayo and then later in the year the by-election victories in Cork of Catherine lynch and Hugh Coveney were what allowed the numbers to form the Rainbow Coalition.
James Lawless -Fianna Fail -2009 Local Elections Naas
From the 2009 Local elections for Kildare County Council in Naas. A leaflet from Fianna Fail candidate James Lawless. Despite polling a respectable 971 votes he failed to be elected.
On the last page there is a message former Fianna Fail Councillor Anthony Creevey and the candidate pictured with him.
Creevey was previously a Councillor for the Democratic Left (and Labour) and ran in the 1997 General Election in Dublin North East for The Democratic Left. Leaflet here.
On that theme former Councillor Mick Billane was a councillor for The Workers Party, Labour and later Fianna Fail.
Martin McGettigan-Fianna Fail -2009 Local Elections Donaghmede
From the 2009 Local Elections in the Donaghmede ward, Fianna Fail candidate Martin McGettigan. Martin McGettigan received 1112 votes but failed to win a seat. He had previously stood for The PDs in 1987.
His running mate, Tom Brabazon did get in.
