From the 2011 Seanad Election a flyer for Sligo based Fine Gael candidate Imelda Henry running for a seat on the Industrial & Commercial Panel. The Sligo based councillor was nominated by The Vintners Federation of Ireland. She ran in the 2007 General Election and Seanad Election failing to win a seat on both occasions.
From the 2011 Seanad Elections a flyer from Eamon Scanlon of Fianna Fail running for a seat on the Agricultural Panel. Scanlon was previously elected to the Seanad on the Agricultural Panel in 2002 before winning a Dail seat in 2007 in Sligo North Leitrim. He lost his seat in the 2011 General Election.
He resigned the party whip for a period in the Dail, in opposition to cuts in breast cancer services at Sligo General Hospital.

Perry, a Ballymote based businessman, was first elected in 1997 and despite it being a poor election for Fine Gael, he held on to his seat.
“Vision with Purpose” was a pretty bad Slogan especially when up against the memorable “A lot done, more to do”.
From the 2007 General Election in Sligo-North Leitrim, Labour Party candidate Jim McGarry.
Jim McGarry polled 1,555 votes and failed to win a seat. The long standing Councillor had previously been
a Fine Gael councillor for many years before switching to Labour in 2003.
From the 2004 European Elections Independent candidate Marian Harkin running in the North West constituency where she topped the poll. She is pictured with Pat Cox. She was a TD at the time and notice how her substitutes were Paudge Connolly and James Breen.
Joe Leonard, John Perry and Gerry Reynolds from the 1997 General Election in Sligo-Leitrim. With Ted Nealon having retired and Labours Declan Bree holding a seat, Fine Gael had a challenge to win a second seat. In the end John Perry and the Leitrim based Gerry Reynolds won seats, with Decklan Bree losing out.

Margaret Forde the 1992 ‘Sligo Business Person of the Year’ from her run for the Seanad on the Administrative Panel in 1997. She had failed to take a seat in the 1997 General election and was unsuccessful here again.

John McGettrick stood in the 1992 General Election for the ‘Arrow-Owenmore Drainage Committee’. It was ‘Now or Never’ back then. It turned out to be ‘Never’.
Eddie Cogan in the 1985 FG Ballymote literature had ‘drainage of the Owenmore and Arrow rivers’ as one of his priorities ‘when elected’
The 1985 Local elections Ballymote LEA. The Fine Gael ticket of Eddie Cogan,Leo Conlon,Neil Henry, Tommy Lavin, Tony McLoughlin and John Perry. Current Fine Gael TD John Perry wasn’t elected. The leaflet also urges voters to ‘continue your preferences for the Labour Party’. There was no Labour Party candidate.
Declan Bree of the Sligo/Leitrim Independent Socialist Organisation from 1987. Long before he joined (and left) the Labour Party. In this 1987 Election Bree polled 2,584 votes and failed to win a seat.
