A flyer from Cllr Martin Heydon ‘Your General Election Candidate’. Hendon was selected by Fine Gael to be a candidate in Kildare South. He polled 1,980 votes in the Athy Ward in 2009.

Ruairi Quinn Leaflet -1992 General Election -Dublin South East


From the 1992 General Election a leaflet from Labour candidate in Dublin South East Ruairi Quinn. Quinn polled 10,381 votes and was elected on the first count with well over a quota.
On the front of the leaflet is Ruairi Quinn with Dick Spring and a nice message from Spring.
On the inside is a critique of the FF/PD government. There were 300,000 unemployed. Major Property Owners and farmers were amongst those that Labour wanted to pay their ‘Fair Share’ in Tax.

Shocking!
They’ll be dressing them up in drag next.

Funny thing is that the slogan on the poster for the actual movie is way more apt.

The Legacy of Seamus Costello -Starry Plough 25th Anniversary Edition 2002


Was sent (many thanks) these pages of a 2002 Edition of The Starry Plough, the newspaper of the IRSP. It was a special edition marking the 25th Anniversary of the murder of Seamus Costello.
In this post are The cover of the paper and a very interesting page which cover many things including a profile of Seamus Costello, the foundation of the IRSP and his ultimate murder, which is uploaded in PDF HERE .
(Should anyone have any of Costellos election material. I’d love to post it)
The sender notes too that “Costello was the first (and so far only) leader of an Irish political party to be murdered.

Joyce Power -Socialist Workers Party -2004 Local Elections Bray September 27, 2010


From the 2004 Local Elections a leaflet for SWP candidate and Bray Wanderers fan Joyce Power running in Bray North Ward for a seat on the Town Council.
She polled 77 votes and failed to win a seat.

Flyer for Billy Kelleher -Fianna Fail – Cork North central 2007 General Election


From the 2007 General election a flyer for Fianna Fail candidate Billy Kelleher running in Cork North Central. Kelleher, who was first elected in 1997, topped the poll and was elected on the first count.
He is a cousin of former Fine Gael TD Liam Burke.
Billy Kelleher was appointed Minister of State with responsibility for Trade and Commerce in early 2009.

Was contacted by PES advertising their site.
Had a look and found this which was launched recently. “A Financial Transaction Tax in Europe Now!”.
PES is the Party of European Socialists, The Labour Party are affiliated to it.
Their website is worth a visit

I spent many hours over Christmas happily surfing the Internet. I visited all sorts of home pages all over the world, and reflected a little on what makes some pages interesting and others not so interesting……
