Leaflet for Fiona O’Malley -Seanad 2011


Using what looks like a photo taken from her 2007 Election Leaflet photoshoot (07 photo included) a leaflet from Independent Senator Fiona O’Malley running in the 2011 Seanad Elections in Trinity.
The former Progressive Democrat TD was appointed to the Seanad by then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, in 2007. Amongst others pictured in the leaflet are David Norris and her father Des O’Malley.

Possibly the only piece of Election material from 2011 with a message from Brian Cowen. A leaflet “Offaly News” from his brother, Fianna Fail Laois Offaly candidate Barry Cowen.
In the leaflet we get details of all the good things Offaly got as well as “The Truth” about various items.
For “The Bank Guarantee -The Truth
We get the justification of the guarantee, a quote from Patrick Honohan and then the punchline……
“The State has already earned €1 billion for guarantee fees in less than two years.”

Flyer from Michael White -The Workers Party -1983 Dublin Central By Election. March 14, 2011


From the 1983 Dublin Central By-Election, caused by the death of George Colley, a flyer for Workers Party candidate Michael White. White, who had stood previously in 1981 and the two Elections in 1982, polled 4,342 votes (13.28% of the poll) in a contest won by Fianna Fails Tom Leonard.
The flyer makes reference to The Workers Party TDs Tomas MacGiolla and Proinsias de Rossa as well as Water Tax.
Michael White is now a judge.

An unusual flyer this from 2011 Dublin South candidate Jane Murphy in that you have the candidate running for The CSP and also promoting another Party Direct Democracy Ireland. Oddly enough Raymond Whitehead also stood for Direct Democracy Ireland in Dublin South.
Jane Murphy polled 277 votes

DDI would like to make it clear that the CSP is a COMPLETE separate organisation with COMPLETE separate people running it. Separate religious agenda – where DDI has complete none – TOTALLY SEPARATE people running it’s rules and constitution and separate founders. Separate headquarters and again separate head-office location.

From the 2011 General Election campaign an ad for Seamus Ryan running for the Labour Party in Waterford. The Waterford City based councillor is pictured with Waterford hurling star Ken McGrath outside McGraths sports shop in Georges Street in Waterford.
Its unusual enough to see a candidate endorsed in an ad by an Inter County player. Ryan polled 4,638 and missed out on winning a seat.
