Three vintage election posters from Fianna Fail. “The Straight Road is Shortest”,”Keep The Wheels Moving” and “Fianna Fail is Building Up”.
I’m not quite sure which elections they are from, either way they are a reminder of different times.
(If you’d like them in bigger sized versions contact me)
From the 1965 General Election, voters are urged “Do NOT Vote Fianna Fail” by the Garda Pensioners Association. It asks for a vote for Fine Gael or Labour who had given assurances to them over Pension increases.

From September 2nd 1931, a letter to each shareholder in The Irish Press from Eamon De Valera. The letter announces the launch of the paper on Saturday 5th of September as well as practical ways of supporting the paper.
I’m curious to know if it would have been signed in person by De Valera, the original looks as if it may have been but given the letter mentions 8,000 shareholders its probably unlikely.
From the 1989 and 1992 General Elections , ads sponsored by Seamus Mulvaney urging Greyhound Supporters to remember their Friends when they voted.
Amongst the friends were Brian Cowen, Frank Fahey, Michael O’Kennedy and Ned O’Keefe. Indeed all the friends listed were Fianna Fail TDs or Ministers.

From 1981 an attempt by Fianna Fail to attract the Youth Vote.
I love the young man asking “When we come to buy a house what chance have we got?” only to be answered by none other than Ray Burke , who was an expert in the matter of housing and planning.
From the 1994 European Elections a leaflet for Fianna Fail Dublin candidates Olive Braiden, Niall Andrews and John Stafford. Andrews was elected.

From the 2009 Local Elections a leaflet in Polish from Fianna Fail candidate James Lawless who was running in Naas. The Leaflet amongst other things, explains that EU nationals are eligible to vote in Local and European Elections aand also explains the system of proportional representation. He polled 971votes and narrowly missed out on a seat.

In January 1949, the then former Taoiseach Eamon De Valera visited Birmingham as a guest of the Anti Partition League of Ireland. This booklet contains a programme of events, a profile of Dev, a message from Hugh Delargy, the aims of the Anti Partition League of Ireland, ads for Connradh Na Gaedhilge and much more.
There is information on The Anti Partition League here and on page 14 and 15 here.

A series of five Desktop images for your PC produced by Fianna Fail around 2001. Sean Lemass , Bertie , Dev, Old Posters and the Fianna Fail logo.

From Ivor Callely a leaflet “2004 Budget Highlights” with details of the 2004 budget. Very different times as Ivor writes “In Ireland we enjoy an economy today that is the envy of many of our European neighbours…” followed by “…a time for good courage and strong leadership.”
From the 1948 General Election campaign “Fianna Fail has a Plan” containing details of their plan. Agriculture, Industry, Housing and Health are amongst the areas covered.
From 1998 a simple Ad for The Fianna Fail National Collection. With a studious Bertie as the backdrop.

From the 1989 General Election a leaflet from John Stafford, who was running for Fianna Fail in Dublin Central. Stafford is one of the Stafford Funeral Directors family and the address given on the leafolet is that of the Funeral Directors. In this 1989 election he held his seat, which he initially won in 1987. On the mock ballot paper at the back of the leaflet you may notice that Geraldine Harney, RTE presenter and sister of Mary Harney, was running for the PDs.
In the leaflet we have a message from Charles Haughey as well as one from Stafford himself.

From the 1981 General Election the Fianna Fail anthem “Arise and follow Charlie” in praise of then leader Charlie Haughey.
From southern glens to Aston Shores
The ancient cry of freedom roars
From Northern hills to Leinster’s doors
We’ll rise and follow CharlieWith Charlie’s song we’ll sing as one
With Charlie’s song we’ll sing along
With Charlie’s song we’ll march along
We’ll Rise and Follow CharlieHail the leader, hail the man
With Freedom’s cause it all began
With Irish Pride in every man
We’ll Rise and Follow CharlieWith Charlie’s song we’ll sing as one
With Charlie’s song we’ll sing along
With Charlie’s song we’ll march along
We’ll Rise and Follow CharlieYoung and old we all approve
He’s kept the Country on the move
He’ll help the Nation to improve
So Rise and Follow CharlieWith Charlie’s song we’ll sing as one
With Charlie’s song we’ll sing along
With Charlie’s song we’ll march along
We’ll Rise and Follow Charlie
From the 1923 General Election ,a leaflet “Vote for Sinn Fein” . Amongst the opening paragraph is that Sinn Fein offers “Justice and Brotherhood- not Flogging and Tortures”.
“Sinn Fein will abolish the murder gangs and secure the life, liberty and property of the people”
Lots more besides,
