Wonderful posters for Seamas O’Neill -Independent -Dundrum -2009 Local Elections. March 26, 2010
Two wonderful and unusual posters for Independent candidate Seamas O’Neill for the 2009 Local Elections in Dundrum.
Seamus O’Neill polled 603 votes and failed to be elected. Still his posters were very noticable for their uniqueness during the campaign.
(many thanks to Seamus O’Neill for sending me these at the time)

Priorities Party – St Lukes Leaflet -2008 January 28, 2010
Many thanks to the donor. The Priorites Party (known also as the The Peoples’ Accountability, Transparency and Standards Party?) were short lived, one of the founders Leo Armstrong is listed as an Independent in the 2009 Local Elections in Clane, although I don’t know if he was standing for the Priorities Party or not.
The party is now defunct.
I have another leaflet from them posted HERE.

Luke ‘Ming’ Flanaghan – Castlerea – 2009 LE January 9, 2010
Luke ‘Ming’ Flanaghan once considered a joke candidate as he campaigned for the legalisation of Cannabis and once sent a joint to each member of the Oireachtas as part of the campaign. He modeled himself on ‘Ming The Merciless’ from the Flash Gordon series.
Elected first in the 2004 local elections, where he topped the poll, he has gained a reputation as an excellent councillor which was reflected in 2009 when he was returned on the first count again.
He has a special interest in gaining recreational facilities for Castlerea. After his 2004 election, in relation to recreational facilities he was quoted “I’m not exactly looking for the Olympics to be held in Castlerea, but we are asking for something to be done.”

Benny Cooney- Independent- Athlone TC 2009 December 4, 2009
For those of you like myself who are consumed with all things elections, Benny Cooneys name may ring a bell.
He polled 18 votes in the 1998 Dublin North by-election, 21 votes in the 1996 Dublin West by-election, has stood on at least eleven occasions and in that time has a top vote of 239 votes. (Benny at ElectionsIreland.org)
Yet theres not much wrong with his policies….

Simple but effective Slogan from the Campaign to keep Cancer services in Sligo.
Colm Callanan – Christian Solidarity Party 2007 November 4, 2009
Colm Callanan who stood in Laois-Offaly and Longford-Westmeath in the 2007 GE and also in 10 different LEAs in the 2009 local elections….
His electoral record at Elections.org
Its nice to put a face to a name.
Colm only wants your Number 1 votes (“…a No 2 vote, regrettably, is of little use to me”).
Colm promises “…to take action on … homosexual adoption, increasing levels of porn in newsagents, sexual innuendo in TV ads, etc”

Michael Gleeson – South Kerry Independent Alliance (SKIA) 2009 October 7, 2009
