Michael Fox-Independent Fine Gael -2009 Local Elections -Edenderry May 27, 2010
From the 2009 Local Elections for Offaly County Council, Independent Fine Gael candidate Michael Fox running in the Edenderry LEA. Despite polling well he failed to get in.
Fox, previously elected for Fine Gael in Tullamore switched to Edenderry after boundary changes. He had failed to get a nomination by Fine Gael, so ran as an Independent. The long serving councillor had twice (Nov 1982 and 1987) been on the Fine Gael General Election ticket in Laois-Offaly.
Unusual to have an Independent Fine Gael candidate as we are more used to Independent Fianna Fail ones.
