“Open Letter to the citizens of Ireland” from the Irish Democratic Party October 12, 2010

I was contacted by The Irish Democratic Party (IDP) with the below “Open Letter to the citizens of Ireland”.
Their Website is www.irishdemocrats.com and they are “looking to recruit members, both registered and volunteer, to contribute to the IDP’s drive to get recognised as a political party and indeed towards our policies

To the Citizens of Our Republic,
Over the last two years the Irish public has witnessed the crushing deficit of leadership amongst our political representatives, and the flagrant disregard their actions have had for the common good of all our people. We, a group of ordinary concerned citizens, have now come together and wish to offer the people of Ireland the opportunity for real change. We are the Irish Democratic Party.
The Irish Democratic Party is a new political movement seeking to establish a democratic, accountable and verifiable republic in Ireland. We believe significant political reform is needed in order to achieve this – including:
.
* New directly-elected regional assemblies to manage regional affairs; replacing the failing council system
.
* True municipal government to build strong local communities; allowing community decisions to be made at a community level
.
* A directly-elected Executive branch of government; through a renewal of the role of the Office of the President
.
* The removal of wasteful or unaccountable public offices; including the Office of the Taoiseach
The re-establishment of the Initiative Process in our constitution; giving our citizens a stronger voice; and
.
* The removal of all vested interests from our Republic’s constitution and body of law
.
We are looking for new members to help us firmly establish this movement and directly challenge those who claim to represent us.
If you believe in a fairer and more open society in Ireland, accountable at a national, regional and municipal level, then join us today and help Rebuild Your Republic.

Dropped in the door during the week. Very lucky I spotted it as it was delivered in the middle of ten or so flyers from Double Glazing to pizzas. Only for the fact that I scour the junk mail looking for the likes of this it would have been in the Green Bin.
Amongst the articles are a competition to win a ‘Water Butt’, an explanation of the Free-To-Air Sports on TV a noble Iphone App for Autism at http://graceappforautismoniphone.blogspot.com/
There are other interesting items here too.

A quick shift away from the UK election stuff to an ASTI Ballot paper for Proposed Public Service Agreement (Croke Park Deal).
Nothing much too it, other than an awful lot of people never get to see Union ballot papers.
The ASTI document which outlines the reasons for recommending a rejection of the deal is here.

‘Towards Good Government’ (aka No Terrorists in Government) -TUV Election Newsletter 2010 April 16, 2010

From Jim Allisters Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) a leaflet entitled ‘Towards Good Government’ , which translates as No Terrorists in Government. The other theme ‘aren’t the DUP delighted with themselves being in Office with Sinn Fein’.
I got sent this (many thanks) and whilst its full of words it’s the pictures that tell the story.
We have Ian Paisley snr whispering into the ears of an amused Martin McGuinness. Peter Robinson laughing with Martin McGuinness.
Jeffrey Donaldson having a laugh with Gerry Kelly. Ian Paisley Junior with both Kelly and McGuinness. The best though must be Ian Paisley Junior ‘joyriding’
with ‘convicted terrorist’ Conor Murphy.
Finally we have pictures of Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness, Adams with Alex Maskey up against Riot Police (not unlike Unionists at Drumcree) and Martin McGuinness at an Republican Funeral.
