Micheál Martin -“Towards Better Health” -Newsletter from the 2007 Election January 18, 2011


From the 2007 General Election Campaign a newsletter from, the then Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin running in Cork South Central  “Towards Better Health”. The Newsletter concentrates almost totally on Health matters despite him being out of the Health job since 2004. Needless to say The Smoking Ban gets a big mention.

O’Callaghan, brother of RTE broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan, polled 3,120 votes and missed out on a seat.

From the 2009 Local Elections a series of Four Video Diaries from Fianna Fail candidate Garret Tubridy. Tubridy, younger Brother of RTE presenter Ryan Tubridy, polled 782 votes running in the Pembroke Rathmines Ward. He failed to win a seat.

From the 2007 General Election Campaign a document from Fianna Fail ‘Securing Prosperity and Jobs’. It was part of the “Now The Next Steps” manifesto.
Amongst the promises were to
Retain the flexibility to deal with any future shocks

We believe that our spending and taxation commitments are the right policies for
Ireland. They are also sustainable and will be delivered, in a strong economic
environment, alongside responsible budgetary outturns.

At the end we get Some nice graphs and charts on the likes of “Total Numbers at Work” ,”General Government Debt/GDP”

From the 2007 General Election , From Socialist Party candidate Clare Daly, a Balbriggan Newsletter. The newsletter focuses on Management Companies and the negative impact made by them.
Things were bad in 2007 but must be far worse now as the management fee goes down the list of bills to be paid.

From March 2007 a newsletter from the then Minister for Children Brian Lenihan. The subject of the newsletter is Health and the advances in facilities in Dublin West.
These days it’s unusual to see him so delighted with spending money on anything.

From the 2007 General Election a leaflet for Socialist Party candidate Mick Barry running in Cork North Central.
Barry who had topped the poll in the 2004 Local Elections, polled 1,700 votes. He again topped the poll in the 2009 Local Elections and is seen as an outside chance for a seat at the next General Election.
