Unusual to see so many ‘personalities’ involved in any political campaign. This Fiscal Treaty ad from the Alliance for Ireland has sports people , musicians and more.
From the Clar of the 1980 Fianna Fail Ard Fheis the report of the National Executive by Liam O’Rian. We also have details of the Fianna Fail National Executive with the number of meetings attended by each member. Also of interest is the Number of Cumainn registered in each constituency for 1979 with details of the 1978 numbers. Donegal had the most and there was total of 2,475 Cumainn Nationally.

In 2009 Gerard O’Brien was elected to Thurles Town Council for Fianna Fáil.
Gerard is an incredible guy who was born without any arms and just one leg due to the Thalidomide drug.
He was a secondary school teacher in Monkstown CBS. Re-trained as a solicitor and founded a practice in Thurles.
He conducted Thurles Folk Group and founded the Phoenix Musical Society.
In 2012 Gerard was appointed State Solicitor for North Tipp and was forced to resign from the Town Council.
