From People Before Profit a leaflet with the headline “Resist Every Cut, Kick Out The IMF , General Strike Now” the leaflet also has details of the launch of the United Left Alliance on Monday 29th November 2010 in the Gresham Hotel.
The Leaflet will be distributed at the ICTU march on Saturday.
From the 1991 Local Elections a leaflet for Labour Party candidates John Byrne and Carmel McKenna. John Byrne was elected.
John Byrne has been on Bray Town Council since 1974 (and his father and grandfather before him back to 1912).
Carmel McKenna almost won a seat in 1994 on Bray Town Council. She then ran in the 1999 locals with Liz McManus and John Byrne as running mates. In 2004 she canvassed for the greens and then in 2007 she ran for People Before Profit Alliance .
A Campaign leaflet on Urban Regeneration focused on O’Devaney Gardens and Dominic Street from Colm Stephens of People Before Profit. Stephens was the PBP candidate in the North Inner City ward in the 2009 Local Elections ,where he received 210 votes.
From the 2004 Local Elections in Dun Laoghaire a leaflet for Socialist Workers Party candidate Richard Boyd Barrett. Boyd Barrett polled well but just missed out on missing a seat. In 2009 he won a seat on Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council running for People Before Profit Alliance.

Having been initially elected on an Anti Bin Tax ticket in 2004, she increased her percentage of the vote and was comfortably elected.
She is tipped as having a decent chance of winning a seat at the next General Election.

From the 2007 General election in Dublin Mid West, People Before Profit candidate Gino Kenny. Gino Kenny polled over 1000 votes and was elected to South Dublin County Council in 2009 for the Clondalkin LEA.
Brid Smith, The People Before Profit Alliance candidate for Dublin Mayor, from the 2002 General Election where she stood for the Socialist Workers Party. She got 617 votes in Dublin South Central.
In 2009 she was elected easily to Dublin City Council for the Ballyfermot Drimnagh ward.
In 2002 The Bin Tax was the main issue. We see that at that stage the Tribunals had cost more that 60 million too (and how many corrupt politicians were jailed?).
The proposed incinerator (in Poolbeg) and its viability without being subsidised by the householder is mentioned also.
Rory Hearne, the People Before Profit candidate in the 2007 General Election in Dublin South East. He polled 591 votes.
SWP man Richard Boyd-Barrett missed out on the last seat at the 2007 General election, but romped home in the 2009 locals elections and is seen as having a great chance at the next election.
Joan Collins, running as an independent in the 2004 Local elections where she was elected. In 2009 she increased her vote and was elected comfortably running for the People Before Profit Alliance. She has an outside chance of a seat in the next election…
The Dublin Housing Action Campaign (DHAC), this time the Socialist Workers Party inspired version. A protest in 1999 against evictions in St Ultans Flats.
One of many organisations to have the name (or at least a similar name) and same initials used numerous times by different groups.
Brid Smiths first electoral outing in 1997, where she gained 218 first preferences, the worst performance of the 4 SWP candidates in that election.
Fast forward to 2009 and she is elected easily ,146 first preferences away from the quota, in Ballyfermot-Drimnagh standing under the People before Profit banner.
The 1997 General Election was the first time the SWP put forward candidates to contest an Irish election. It fielded four candidates- Ritchie Browne, Peadar O’Grady, Brid Smith in Dublin constituencies and Jimmy Kelly in Waterford.
Peadar O’Grady ran in Dublin South East. They use being Anti Corruption to try and attract voters rather than advertising that they are a ‘revolutionary socialist group’.
In recent weeks there has been much ado in certain circles about a new disgruntled ex Greens/People Before Profit Alliance.
But what would they call it?

*Catherine stood for Sinn Fein in the 2009 Bray Town Council elections.
