Regarding the Fianna Fail government of the time…
‘They still want to poison our air with incinerators’ ………

Vincent Ballyfermot Jackson -Dublin South Central 2002 December 14, 2009

In the past 20 years Dublin has had two Lord Mayors which have changed their names to include a locality, Sean Dublin Bay Loftus and Vicent Ballyfermot Jackson.
This is a Jacksons flyer from the 2002 General Election. A good deal of it is taken up with a message from Tony Gregory.
Jacksons Ballyfermot base has been moved between \Dublin West, Dublin Central and Dublin South Central over the recent past.

She lost it in the 2007 General Election. She now serves in the Seanad having been nominated by the Taoiseach.   Fiona has two websites listed www.voteno1.com and www.no1vote.com, I wonder was one a misprint?

Trevor Sargent -Green Party -Dublin North -2002 General Election November 10, 2009

First elected in 1992, the then Green Party Leader Trevor Sargents almost apocalyptic letter to Dublin North voters in 2002. Despite the Earth being on its last legs the inside part is positive and paints an excellent picture of Sargent. Not too many leaflets have planes, trains,  boats and buses in with a picture of a red squirrel. The leaflet also illustrates the diversity of the constituency from farming to fishing, recyling to Aer Lingus and transport issues also.
The Greens have a fondness for quotes from the papers and this is no different with quotes from teh Sunday World and Foinnse amongst others.

Sargent had been the Green Partys first ever Leader for less than a year.

From 2002 “Do you want to swap this man for a Sinn Fein or second Fianna Fail TD?” Pat Rabbitte -Labour -Dublin South West November 6, 2009

Pat Rabbitte plays the I’m in trouble card with his “Do you want to swap this man for a Sinn Fein or second Fianna Fail TD?” leaflet from the 2002 General Election Campaign. As it happens Both Sinn Fein and Fianna Fail won seats and it was Brian Hayes that lost out.

‘Important Message For West Wicklow’- Billy Timmins 2002 Fine Gael November 5, 2009

Geography plays a major part in Irish elections, especially in larger rural constituencies. Often transfers are done locally rather than party wise.  The nature of things is that more appears to be done in an area or town which has a TD than not.

Vision, With Purpose -Fine Gael 2002 October 12, 2009

Saw this and it bought back memories of the 2002 election, when Fine Gael were decimated.  Each house would have got this in the run up to the election. I can visualize Michael Noonan saying ‘I want to see our public services become the envy of Europe’…..
… and wasn’t “Vision, With Purpose” one of the worst slogans ever.
So whilst Fine Gael had Michael Noonan witha shocking slogan, Fianna Fail had the blue eyed Bertie with ‘A lot done, more to do’

Brian Hayes – “Say No to Single Party Government” 2002 October 10, 2009

This is interesting in that it wasn’t just the PDs who were saying no to one party government in 2002, it was Fine Gael too. Funny thing is this was out before the PDs poster campaign
Here we had a case of two parties saying the exact same thing, but reading the PD posters they implied keeping their few TDs in government as ‘watchdogs’, whilst FG were looking for an anti Fianna Fail vote.

On the back we have his achievements and Stanley Lang urging votes for Brian.

Áine Ní Chonaill was one of the first people to come out and publicly question immigration. The ICP is vehemently anti asylum seeker and felt that Ireland was easy for them to get Asylum.

These two leaflets are as vile as you will come across…. (In Ireland anyhow)
