The 24/7 Frontline Alliance represents workers, including gardai, nurses, fire fighters, prison officers and ambulance personnel, who deliver emergency and other vital services to the public, often at considerable risk to themselves. It is committed to protecting its members’ interests and the services they provide to the public.
There are six affiliated unions and staff associations. They are: the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors, the Garda Representative Association, the Irish Nurses Organisation, the Prison Officers Association, the Psychiatric Nurses Association and SIPTU.

Catherine Murphy -The Workers Party -1989 General Election -Kildare June 8, 2010
From the 1989 General Election a leaflet from Workers Party candidate Catherine Murphy who was running in Kildare. She polled 1,520 votes.
On the same day she was also running in Leinster in the European Elections where she polled 7,089 votes.
Initially elected to Leixlip Town Commission in 1988, she was elected to Kildare County council in 1991 running for the Workers Party.She stood for the Democratic Left in the 1992 and 1997 General Elections before standing for Labour in the 1999 Local Elections. She resigned from Labour and stood as an Independent in the 2004 local elections and sensationally won the 2005 by-election before losing her seat in the 2007 General Election. She topped the poll in in the 2009 Local elections.
Many of the policies and issues mentioned are as relevant now as they were in 1989.

Ray Kelly -Parents against Discrimination/Fathers Rights -Dublin South West 2007 GE
A leaflet from longstanding Fathers Rights campaigner Ray Kelly running in the 2007 General Election in Dublin South West. Kelly polled 434 votes. He has stood a number of times in both local and General Elections (his record at electionsireland.org)
Flyer for Christopher Fox -Independent -2004 LE Bray
From the 2004 Local Elections a flyer for Christopher Fox who was running as an Independent in Bray. He was elected and in 2009 he topped the poll.
He is a brother of former TD Mildred Fox and son of Former TD Johnny Fox.

A traffic themed leaflet from Fine Gael candidate Naoise Ó Muirí running in the 2004 Local Elections in the Clontarf ward. Ó Muirí was elected and returned again in the 2009 Local Elections.
Billy Hillis -Fine Gael -Athy 2009 Local Elections
A leaflet from Fine Gael candidate Billy Hillis running in the Athy LEA in the 2009 Local elections in Kildare.
Hillis who had served a number of terms as a councillor lost his seat. Part of his loss was due to boundary changes where parts of Naas joined the Athy LEA.
Frank Maher -Fianna Fail -2002 GE Louth
A leaflet from the 2002 General Election for Fianna Fail candidate in Louth Frank Maher. Drogheda based Maher polled 4,653 votes and narrowly missed out on a seat. He stood again in the 2007 General Election without success.
On the Reverse we see the ‘A lot done, more to do’ with the achievements of the 1997 to 2002 Government listed.

Tom Dalzell-Sheridan -UK Unionist Party -1998 Assembly Elections West Belfast
From the 1998 Assembly Elections, Tom Dalzell-Sheridan running for the UK Unionist Party in West Belfast. He failed to win a seat.
The UK Unionists were Anti Agreement and were in favour of direct rule from London.

Therese Ridge -Fine Gael -Dublin Mid West 2002 GE June 5, 2010
From the 2002 General Election a leaflet for unsuccessful Fine Gael candidate Therese Ridge running in Dublin Mid West . She had previously stood in 1987 and 1992. She failed to win a seat both times.

The letter is posted along with a page from the pamphlet that contains what was possibly his election flyer.

From the run up to the 1992 General Election, a leaflet from Labour candidates Emmet Stagg and Jack Wall running in Kildare. Emmet Stagg was elected with Jack Wall narrowly missing out.
The leaflet attacks cuts done by constituency colleague Fianna Fails Charlie McCreevy, these cuts were known as the ‘Dirty Dozen’.
Sinead Seery -Labour Party -Artane 2004 Local Elections
From the 2004 local elections a leaflet from Labour candidate Sinead Seery who was running in the Artane Ward. She polled well but failed to win a seat. In 2009 she again narrowly missed out on a seat.

Canvass Card from Gerry ‘Ginger’ McLoughlin -Labour Party -Limerick 2009 LE
A simple card with useful numbers from former Rugby International Gerry ‘Ginger’ McLoughlin issued around the 2009 Local Elections.
Gerry, a prop, won 18 caps for Ireland. He was also a member of the famous Munster team that beat the All Blacks in 1978. He is probably most remembered for his try against England in Twickenham (seen here from 7.03 mins onwards) during Ireland’s Triple Crown campaign in 1982.
Gerry McLoughlin was originally elected as an Independent to Limerick City council in 2004 before joining Labour in 2006.
He was comfortably elected in the 2009 Local Elections and his daughter Orla McLoughlin was also elected to Limerick City Council in 2009.

From the 2004 European Elections, a Canvass card with a Quiz on the back (which someone has tried to answer) from Peter Cassells The Labour Party candidate in Ireland East. The answer to Question c is fairly vague.
Peter Cassells is a former head of the ICTU. He polled 59,158 votes (13.05%) and failed to win a seat.

This candidate rejects incineration, protects our Green spaces and supports our environment. proclaims Lucinda.
This was one of many leaflets where candidates tried to out Green the Greens.

From the 1999 European Elections, a leaflet produced by Green Party Candidate Patricia McKenna asking ‘Is GM Food Safe?’. Many of the concerns are still shared today.
Patricia McKenna was comfortably elected.
