From the 1997 General Election a “Hello!” magazine style canvass card from Aidan O’Connor who was running for Fine Gael in Kerry South. He polled 3,041 votes and failed to win a seat. After the General Election he was appointed to the Seanad where he served for a number of months until the next Seanad convened.

Some Oliver J Flanagan pictures, newspaper cuttings and leaflets December 13, 2013
A bumper post of pictures, newspaper cuttings and leaflets that Charlie Flanagan kindly pictured and sent me (many thanks again).
The first two pictures are from the 1969 General Election Campaign.
Then we have a 1981 General Election flyer from Oliver J Flanagan, Johny Butterfield, Tom Enright and Charlie McDonald (Oliver J Flanagan and Tom Enright were elected result here).
Then the front page of the Irish Times from August 18th 1953 where Oliver J ‘took his jacket off’ ! , he was campaigning in the Galway South By Election.
The a great clipping of Charlie Flanagan and Brian Cowen from the 1987 General Election Campaign.

From the 2007 General Election , a leaflet from Fine Gael outlining “The Contract for a Better Ireland…..” . Before 2011’s ‘The 5 point Plan’ was Enda Kennys contract with the Irish people.
This contract was the inside of the generic Fine Gel leaflet from that election.

I found this in a copy of Fine Gaels ‘Just Society’ that I had at the bottom of a drawer. Its a letter from Fine Gael Waterford TD Eddie Collins to , what I can only assume is a constituent who had asked his advice about applying for a position on the RTE Authority. I wonder what the ‘movement’ referred to in the letter was?

Leaflet from Bill Tormey -Fine Gael -2011 Seanad Elections September 11, 2013
From the 2011 Seanad Elections a leaflet from Bill Tormey of Fine Gael who was running for a seat on the Cultural and Educational panel. In the leaflet we learn that he is the only Fine Gael public rep for vast areas of Dublin North West and that he is a health campaigner. There is no mention of Reform or Seanad abolition. Instead it also focuses on his loyalty to Fine Gael (He stood in a number of elections for Labour and a number also as an Independent before finding his home in Fine Gael).
