was one of a number of ‘New Irish’ candidates running in the 2009 Local Elections. He polled a respectable 611 votes.
Idowu Olafimihan runs a security company, Empire Security Services.

From 1992 Fianna Fail candidate Batt O’Keefe running in Cork South Central. Batt O’Keefe was re-elected having lost his seat in 1989 and has held it ever since.. He had been elected on this his first attempt at the Dail in 1987.
In 2004 Bat O’Keefe was appointed Junior Minister at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. In 2008 Brian Cowen appointed him as Minister for Education and Science and in 2010 he was appointed Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation.
He played in the half forward line in Corks Munster Under 21 winning Gaelic Football team of 1965.

The Galway born Kett was a close friend of Bertie Ahern and was elected to the Seanad in 1997 where he served until his passing in 2009.

Here we have Brian Lenihan and Gerry Lynam running for Fianna Fail in Dublin West. Little or no detail about the candidates. A letter from Bertie Ahern telling us about the Next Steps.
The now Minister of Finance Brian Lenihan topped the poll and was elected on the first count.

A young Martin Cullen from his first General Election in 1987. Martin Cullen had been an Independent councillor(as his father had been too) before joining the PDs.
Here in 1987 he was ‘A fighter for Waterford’ …….
Martin was, amongst other things, looking for ‘……a more Professional Dail with fewer TDs….’
He switched to Fianna Fail after the 1992 General Election.
