From the recent West Belfast by election a flyer from People Before Profit candidate Gerry Carroll. Carroll polled 1,751 votes 7.6%. It was an increase from the 1,661 votes 4.8% he received at the Assembly elections.

From the 1999 European Elections a flyer for Fine Gael candidates Avril Doyle and Alan Gillis. Gillis an ex president of the IFA was a sitting MEP having won the seat in 1994. Doyle an ex TD for Wexford won a seat as Gillis lost his.
Doyle was returned again in 2004 and retired at the 2009 European Elections.

This is an unusual leaflet, from Fianna Fail candidate Eamonn Walsh. Éamonn Walsh originally sought the nomination for South West Inner City Ward for Dublin City Council. This leaflet is from the SW Inner City.
However he ended up being selected and winning a seat on South Dublin County Council in the Tallaght Central Ward.
Note the Polish on the leaflet as European Union Citizens are allowed vote in the Local and European Elections.

McGrath a former Fianna Fail councillor and General Election candidate, was deselected by Fianna Fail for the 1999 Local Elections and was elected as an independent. In this 2004 Election he polled 861 votes and lost his seat.
He ran again in the 2011 General Election polling just 253 votes.
In 2010 he along with other former Fianna Fail councillors Don Lydon, Sean Gilbride and Tony Fox were charged with corruption.

Some big names here in this 1987 election leaflet for Mary O’Rourke, Albert Reynolds and Henry Abbott. Reynolds a former Taoiseach, O’Rourke a former minister and leader of The Seanad, whilst Abbott became a high court judge. In this 1987 General Election, all three were elected in the four seat Longford Westmeath. Abbott lost his seat in 1989.

In the Dail election all three Fianna Fail candidates were elected with Niall Andrews elected for Europe.

In the leaflet amongst other things he mentions is that he “is running for the fourth time for Dail Eireann”. In 1997 he ran for ‘The National Party‘ , in 2002 he ran for the Christian Solidarity Party , in 2007 he ran as an Independent.
