Was given it today by a friend from Cork South Central – it’s Dan Boyle’s postal manifesto / Litir Um Thoghcháin. There’s a rather strange quotation from of all people Rudyard Kipling: “Judge of the Nations, spare us yet – Lest we forget, lest we forget”.
I looked it up – the quote comes from Kipling’s poem “Recessional” ….. another stirring bit of that poem – “If, drunk with sight of power, we loose….”
A video (he has quite a few posted on Youtube) from Socialist Party / United Left Alliance candidate in Cork North Central Councillor Mick Barryon Why Everybody Should Vote. Barry is seen as having an outside chance of winning a seat.

Ted is running in Cork South Central. He has stood previously for the Immigration Control Platform (leaflet here) and polled 804 votes in 2007

From the 2007 General Election Campaign a newsletter from, the then Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin running in Cork South Central “Towards Better Health”. The Newsletter concentrates almost totally on Health matters despite him being out of the Health job since 2004. Needless to say The Smoking Ban gets a big mention.

Apologies for that the image is hard to read.
From January 2011 a leaflet for Labour Party TD for Cork South Central Ciaran Lynch with the headline “Keeping Warm this Winter” . The leaflet has some details of the “Winter Fuel Scheme” with details of Lynchs constituency clinics.
Councillor Lorraine Kingston is on the Leaflet in he Contact information section rather than his running mate Paula Desmond.
Whilst it doesn’t ask for a vote it certainly reminds voters that their TD is out and about.

Amongst his polices are reduction in the number of TDs and “Cut numbers in the public service by 30,000”

A poster for the ‘United Left Alliance’ Cork Public Launch Rally to be held on the 12th January 2011 in the Metropole Hotel on MacCurtain Street at 7.30 pm.
Amongst those addressing the meeting will be Joe Higgins, Richard Boyd Barrett, Seamus Healy as well as Cork based candidates Mick Barry and Ann Foley.

Barry who had topped the poll in the 2004 Local Elections, polled 1,700 votes. He again topped the poll in the 2009 Local Elections and is seen as an outside chance for a seat at the next General Election.

“Vote only for candidates with No Incineration In their Party Policies”
It details the possible impact on Cork harbour and its environs of Incineration as well as cost factors associated with it.
