A Please support your own local Turf Cutters flyer advertising a protest on Wednesday 6th March 2013 in Loughrea.
I’ve also included a video, Kildare turf cutters depicted in photos. Music – kindly composed by our neighbour Luka Bloom & donated to us to use in our fight for a fair & agreed bog management plan for all 53 SAC’s.
Show your support for him also and purchase his Album with our song “Across the breeze” – a beautiful ballad that clearly captures the heartfelt sentiment of our turf cutting families.

From the 1974 Local Elections a poster for Labour candidates Dr John O’Connell ,Patrick O’Mahony and Jack Richardson who were running in the Ballyfermot Kilmainham ward. O’Connell topped the poll with 4,803 votes (over two quotas) and Patrick O’Mahony was also elected having polled 435 votes. Jack Richardson polled 100 votes and failed to win a seat.

From the 1984 European Elections in Dublin “Send your Best to Europe” , a Leaflet from Fine Gael candidates Mary Banotti and Richie Ryan. Both were elected.
In 1986 Ryan resigned his seat as he was appointed to the European Court of Auditors , Mary Banotti retired in 2004 having served as an MEP for Dublin for 20 year.

From the 1989 European Elections a flyer from Fine Gael MEP Chris O’Malley who was running in Dublin. O’Malley who had been co-opted to replace Richie Ryan in 1986 polled 26,574 votes and failed to win a seat. He later represented Labour as a Councillor, having been co-opted to replace Eamon Gilmore in 2003. In the 2004 Local Elections he lost his Council seat.

From the 1992 Abortion Referenda a leaflet from ‘Frontline’ “A Coalition of Organisations dealing with the Issue and Consequences of Unplanned Pregnancy”.
The Coalition consisted of Cherish, Doctors for Freedom of Information, Dublin Well Woman Centre, Irish Family Planning Association, Open Line Counselling, Psychologists for Freedom of Information and The Union of Students of Ireland.
They were urging a No vote in the Abortion Referendum as it was ” a simplistic and ambiguous approach to a complex issue” and were urging a Yes vote for the Right to Travel and Right to Information.
