2002 Article by Willie O’Dea – “Fine Gaels Future Looks Bleak”
I saw this on an archived version of Willie O’Deas Website from 2002.
Willie writes…
They see, just like the rest of us, a potentially seismic realignment of Irish politics. Their problem is that they don’t know where to shift to. This indecision is due to the existance of two distinct groupings within Fine Gael.
The fault line running through Fine Gael was papered over by their antipathy to Fianna Fáil. Yet this fault line became almost geographically visible within months of Michael Noonan taking the leadership. Their stance on the abortion referendum exposed the gulf for all to see, including me.
I hate to be an “I told you so”, but I predicted as much last March. In the aftermath of the abortion referendum vote I wrote in the Sunday Independent: “The party (Fine Gael) tried to face two ways at once and it will pay the price. They now seek to claim the urban no voters who according to today’s poll don’t support Fine Gael while turning their back on their traditional supporters outside Dublin who largely voted Yes.”

They got the bones of a full page article from the leaflet but failed to mention the leaflets source. It would be nice if they did.

Ivor Callelys guide to Budget 2011… with nice FF style logo… and more January 7, 2011
The fact that Ivor is sending this leaflet out leads me to think he’ll be standing again.
Ivor Calellys guide to Budget 2011.
First off there is the tagline under Ivors name
UNWAVERING ENERGY & DEDICATION BORN OF A TRUE PASSION FOR PUBLIC SERVICE
The heartwarming appeal from Ivor at the end of the leaflet
We must remain vigilant as we move forward learning from past mistakes and not settling for less than our full potential. We must look beyond our current difficulties and as resilient people we can and we will get through this difficulty.
I am asking people to be positive, to have hope and confidence.
And then the sneaky FF style logo!

Feb 1982-“The Coalition has taken away the right of YOUR child to enter this school at 4 years of age.Fianna Fail will Put This Right”
An intriguing Fianna Fail ad from the February 1982 General Election with the message…
“The Coalition has taken away the right of YOUR child to enter this school at 4 years of age. Fianna Fail will Put This Right”
I’m not sure as to the background and what the coalition proposals about School going age were.
The ad asks for a vote for the Fianna Fail candidates in Galway West, Frank Fahey, Maire Geoghegan Quinn, Bobby Molloy, Mark Killilea and Nicholas O’Connor.

“A News Brief from Beverley” -Beverley Flynn Summer 2008 Newsletter January 5, 2011
From Summer 2008 “A News Brief from Beverley”. The message on the front from Beverley is about Cancer Services in Mayo and her backing of the National Cancer Strategy.
One item was her support for the Construction sector. “The current market presents an opportunity ..for Local Authorities.. to negotiate deals to buy affordable houses..”
She would have had The State (County Councils) buy a raft of houses in 2008…. that would look well now.
