“Mary Fitzpatrick is seeking your No.1 Vote for David Costello” Fianna Fail -Cabra-Finglas May 20, 2014

A leaflet put out by Fianna Fail Cabra Finglas candidate David Costello that says that Mary Fitzpatrick urges voters in the Navan Road/Cabra area to vote him No 1 (this is going out in fellow Fianna Fail candidates: Paul Anthony Ward and Darren Lehane’s backyard). I’m not sure if the leaflet is authorized and there’s great irony in quoting Mary Fitzpatrick considering that she was shafted by Bertie with leaflets urging transfers to Cyprian Brady rather than her in 2007

Letter from Mary Fitzpatrick -Fianna Fail-2011 Dublin Central February 1, 2011

From the 2011 General Election a letter to voters from Fianna Fail candidate in Dublin Central Mary Fitzpatrick. Unlucky to lose out in 2007 she is the Fianna Fail front runner in Dublin Central this time around.
Says a few things of interest in the letter.

Dermot Fitzpatrick – Fianna Fail – Dublin Central 1992 January 22, 2010

Fianna Fails Dermot Fitzpatrick from the 1992 General election in Dublin Central where he failed to retain his seat. This despite Fianna Fail getting two quotas,of which Bertie Ahern took the lions share, they only won a single seat. He didn’t stand again until the 2002 General election when he was elected.
He is father of Fianna Fail Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick.

The letter that got Cyprian Brady elected -Fianna Fail 2007 -Dublin Central December 8, 2009

The night before the 2007 General Election, this leaflet was distributed in almost all areas (note the ‘your area’) of Dublin Central (Such stunts are not unusual). Mary Fitzpatrick wasn’t best pleased, especially as she didn’t have time to respond before the election.
Having received just 939 first preference votes, Cyprian Brady gets elected. How? He got the lions share of transfers from Bertie Aherns surplus, it was enough to put him ahead of Mary Fitzpatrick. When Mary Fitzpatrick was eliminated, Cyprian got the bulk of her transfers and finished comfortably ahead of Paschal Donohoe to win the final seat.
So this letter was deemed to have worked.
