From the 1979 Local Elections a leaflet for Fianna Fail Bruff candidates, Michael J Collins, Patrick Costello, Jack Dillon, Patrick C Fitzgerald and Michael Noonan running for seats on Limerick County Council. Noonan (1,782 votes) and Collins (1353) were elected whilst Dillon (552), Fitzgerald (439) and Costello (244) missed out.
“Brian Hayes TD – An Introduction” A leaflet distributed to the new (former Dublin South) Dublin South West voters from Fine Gael TD and Junior Minister Brian Hayes. In it he is pictured in front of local landmark Rathfarnham Castle and there are also pics of him in the Pearse Museum in St Endas Park.

From 1981, during the Hunger Strike ,a leaflet from the Manhattan Unit Publicity Committee of Northern Aid calling for Irish Americans to Boycott British goods until “Britain restores full independence to the whole of Ireland”.
The Leaflet also mentions the visit of Prince Charles and The Royal Ballet to New York .

“Students and Sinn Fein” a leaflet issued by the Sinn Fein Youth Department explaining Sinn Feins policies, their support for the IRA and issues that impact students. It also has a cartoon of a ‘Quite short history of Ireland’ on the front.

A Leaflet from Labour Dublin North Central (Dublin Bay North) TD Aodhán Ó Ríordáin “Your Guide to Job & Trainee Schemes” giving details of various internship and training schemes.
From the February 1982 General Election a leaflet from Sinn Fein candidate Joe O’Connell running in Clare. O’Connell, then a prisoner in Parkhurst Jail polled 1,233 votes.

From the 1984 European Elections a leaflet from Fianna Fail Dublin candidates Niall Andrews, Eileen Lemass and Jim Tunney. Lemass and Andrews were elected.
Was sent this (many thanks), a humorous raffle ticket for Sinn Feins 1994 EEC Election Fund. Not too sure of its origins.

Fascinating piece of history this , the October 21st 1921 issue of “An t-Ógláċ The Official Organ of the Irish Volunteers”. There are articles about Revolvers, the importance of ‘cover’, Night Training and ‘The Indian Situation’.

From the morning of the 2011 General Election a ‘Good Morning’ flyer from Fianna Fail candidate Chris Andrews running in Dublin South East. Using the slogan “Representation with Integrity” Andrews flyer does not mention Fianna Fail nor have the party logo. Andrews who had been elected in 2007 lost his seat polling 3,922 votes.
From 1974 a Sinn Fein Manual of Publicity. It was an internal publication “..prepared solely for the information and guidance of Sinn Fein Members. It is not for public sale or distribution.”
It is fairly detailed and covers all areas of publicity from songs and poems, stickers, leaflets to cultivating contacts with the press and so on. An interesting read. I presume other parties produced such material also.

From 1981 a small pamphlet produced by Sinn Fein’s Department of Women’s Affairs entitled “Abortion Ireland”. At the time the holding of an Abortion Referendum was a big issue and led to the first of our Abortion Referendums in 1983.

From the 1955 Westminster Elections a single page manifesto from Sinn Fein. Sinn Fein stood 12 candidates of which two, Tom Mitchell and Philip Clarke were elected.

Two wonderful leaflets for Eamon De Valera from the 1917 East Clare by election. One “A Message to the electors of East Clare from the people of Limerick” and the other “Dr O’Dwyer at Limerick 14th Sept., 1916”. De Valera defeated Patrick Lynch to win the seat. (telegram sent by De Valera to his wife with the result)
