From the 1943 General Election an ad for Independent candidate Mary Corbett who was running in Tipperary. She polled 466 votes. The slogans and policies are very interesting.
Noel Davern passed away recently, I never met him, but he was one of the politicians who over the years took time to feed my habit. Not all politicians or parties are so kind.
I found this today as I was going through some boxes and sorting out leaflets, so thought it apt to post it.
From the 1987 General Election a leaflet from Fianna Fail candidates Michael O’Kennedy and Michael Smith who were both elected in Tipperary North. The Leaflet gives lengthy profiles of the candidates as well as details on how “North Tipperary can depend on this experienced team”. We also have Charles Haugheys message to the Electorate with details of “The Fianna Fail plan for National Recovery”.
From the 1948 General Election a leaflet for Fianna Fail candidates Andy Fogarty, Thomas Joseph McDonagh and Mary Bridget Ryan who were running in Tipperary North. Andy Fogarty who had been a TD since June 1927, lost his seat. He was from Cashel in the new South Tipperary constituency, his nephew John Fanning would later take a seat. Mary Ryan held on to her seat. She was known as Ryan Lacken, her husband Martin had been a TD. The other candidate TJ McDonagh was a nephew of Thomas MacDonagh and was a Dublin solicitor.

From the 1987 General Election, ‘Ryan Stands on His Record’, a leaflet from Labour Party TD for Tipperary North John Ryan outlining what had been delivered by the coalition government both Locally and Nationally over the previous five years.
Ryan polled 4,558 votes and missed out on a seat as newcomer Michael Lowry claimed a seat for Fine Gael and Michael O’Kennedy and Michael Smith won seats for Fianna Fail.

From the 1987 General Election a flyer for Fine Gael Tipperary North candidates Michael Lowry and Denis Ryan. Lowry polling 5821 votes was elected whilst Ryan polled 2038 votes and failed to win a seat.

From June 2008 a copy of ‘Tipperary North Ógra’ Fianna Fail ‘Monthly News. It has some reflections on the rejection of the Lisbon treaty as well as local news and photos of various events that Ogra were involved in.

From the 2000 Tipperary South By-Election a leaflet for Fine Gael candidate Tom Hayes. Hayes polled a healthy 8,184 votes in a contest won by Seamus Healy. The By-Election was caused by the death of Labour TD Michael Ferris.
Hayes was elected to the Dail in 2002 and has held a seat since.
From the 2009 Local Elections a leflet from Fianna Fail candidate Lorraine O’Keefe who was running for a seat on Thurles Town Council.

In 2009 She ran for Thurles Town Council, Ned ran for Europe and her brother Kevin ran for the County Council. Kevin was the only one elected.”
