From the 1983 Westminster Elections a leaflet from Sinn Fein, “Sinn Fein -The Voice of Principled Leadership” . It was the first Westminster Elections since 1959 fought by the party. In the election Gerry Adams won a seat for the party in West Belfast.

From the 1933 General Election campaign “This is What Cosgrave Will Do…” which details what Cumann na nGaedheal would do should they be elected to government.This 1933 General Election was the last election fought by Cumann na nGaedheal, as later that year they merged with the National Centre Party and the National Guard (Blueshirts) to form Fine Gael.

From the 1997 General Election a leaflet from Liz McManus who was running for the Democratic Left in Wicklow. Having previously been a Workers Party Councillor, she was first elected to the Dail in 1992 when running for The Democratic Left. In this 1997 Election she polled 5,226 votes and was elected on the 9th count.
The leaflet shows the achievements of the Rainbow Coalition, note the Partnership Works Slogan and request to transfer to our government partners at the bottom of the leaflet.

Crime of course is one of the main issues that crops up on a regular basis. Fianna Fail ran their 1997 campaign in part on a Zero Tolerance policy to crime.
May well be a key issue at the next election.

Leaflet from Eamon Gilmore- Workers Party- 1989 General Election -Dun Laoghaire


From the 1989 General Election a leaflet from Eamon Gilmore of The Workers Party who was running in Dun Laoghaire. Having narrowly missed out in the 1987 General Election, it was in this 1989 Election that Gilmore won a seat in the Dail for the first time, a seat he has held since.
The leaflet itself sets out then then aims of The Workers Party and we also have a message to the electorate from Proinsias De Rossa. The 150 words about local issues in Dun Laoghaire gives an idea of some of the problems of the time.

From the 2000 Tipperary South By-Election a leaflet for Fine Gael candidate Tom Hayes. Hayes polled a healthy 8,184 votes in a contest won by Seamus Healy. The By-Election was caused by the death of Labour TD Michael Ferris.
Hayes was elected to the Dail in 2002 and has held a seat since.

From the 1959 Referendum on the Voting System, where Fianna Fail proposed first past the post , one seat constituencies, “Fine Gael Says Hold Fast To P.R.”. Fine Gael outlines why we should hold on to our system of P.R.
The Referendum was defeated with 51.79% voting No and 48.21% voting Yes.

1992 leaflet from Ivor Callely, Sean Haughey, John Stafford- Fianna Fail -Dublin North Central January 6, 2013


From the 1992 General Election a leaflet from Fianna Fail Dublin North Central candidates Ivor Callely, Sean Haughey and John Stafford. Callely and Haughey were elected whilst sitting TD John Stafford had switched from the revised Dublin Central and lost his seat.
Sean Haughey had run twice previously in neighbouring Dublin North East but had failed to win a seat. In this election his father Charlie Haughey retired and Sean stood in his old stomping ground of Dublin North Central.

1967 poster for Michael Cullen, Edward Hynes, Roger Miley and Basil Phelan- Fianna Fail -Wicklow Local Elections January 5, 2013


From the 1967 Local Elections a poster for Fianna Fail Wicklow Michael Cullen, Edward Hynes, Roger Miley and Basil Phelan. I dont have the results but as far as I know both Michael Cullen and Basil Phelan were elected. Roger Miley was elected in 1974 to the Council.
Basil Phelan later stood for Fianna Fail in the 1969 and 1973 General Elections but failed to win a seat on each occasion.
