A 1985 speech from then leader of Fianna Fail Charles J Haughey to the First Annual Dinner of the Friends of Fianna Fail in America. Its quite interesting in that it is very Rebulican in tone and illustrates efforts to get Irish America involved in the Northern Question as well as helping Ireland economically. I previously posted the Programme For The 1987 Fianna Fail ‘Dinnéar An Taoisigh’ With Prizes, Menu And Cigars , so thought I’d post the following years one too. Some nice prizes on offer, a decent menu however no cigars on the menu in 1988!

A leaflet from Offaly based Independent Councillor John Leahy from the 2011 General Election. He polled 4,882 votes. He polled 2686 votes in The Local Elections topping the poll in Birr.
He was in the news recently for speaking at the launch of Lucinda Creightons new party.

From the 1954 General Election a leaflet showing the price rises under Fianna Fail since the Inter Party Government left office in 1951. Two of the three Fine Gael candidates in Carlow Kilkenny were elected. Patrick Crotty and Joseph Hughes. Thomas Fielding failed to win a seat. Result here

The photo is from the 1943 General election for Dublin County constituency and the Tunney was Jim or James Tunney (elected to the Dáíl in 1943 & lost his seat in 1944 it was the only occasion he was elected to the Dáil, was also in Seanad & Cllr.) father of Jim Tunney who later became Lord Mayor of Dublin & FF TD for Dublin North West . His Grandson also Jim is an optician in Finglas. Liam Cosgrave Snr & Henry Dockrell were elected for FG in that election & Sean Brady & Patrick J Fogarty for FF.
