Jim O’Brien -Labour -Laois Offaly 2007 General Election September 5, 2010


From the 2007 General Election a leaflet for Labour Party candidate Jim O’Brien. The Laois based O’Brien polled 1278 votes and failed to win a seat.
He is a freelance journalist as well as a writer and has been a writer on Pat Shortts TV show Killinascully as well as The Farmers Journal.

From 1966 a Laois Republican Commemoration Committee Easter Draw card (I assume its a misspelling of commemoration).
The sender notes
Its a fully filled out Republican Easter draw card from 1966 – not sure if someone ever dropped it in for the draw or just made off with money – it was probably someone from Newbridge (or Droichead Nua) as thats where all the addresses are from.

Note that some of the names and addresses are Army men from The Curragh Camp and of course some are care of ‘The Liffey Bar’ in Newbridge.

Larry Kavanagh polled 864 votes and was elected.

 

Frances Emerson -Independent – Emo , Laois -2009 Local Elections May 14, 2010


A 2009 local elections flyer for Portarlington based Independent Frances Emerson. Emerson was running in the Emo Local Electoral Area for Laois County Council. She polled 256 votes.
