The Dáil being Televised regularly was once a big issue. The following Discussion Documentissued by Fine Gael in May 1988 gives arguements for and against the Televising the Dáil, The practicalities of it and also has a section on ‘presenting the Dáil at its best’. From the 1967 Limerick West By Election a flyer from Gerry Collins of Fianna Fail who was elected on the first count. The By-Election was caused by the death of his father James Collins who had been a TD since 1948.

“The Cork Star” anonymous ‘Dirty Tricks’ anti Sinn Fein Newsletter distributed on Corks Northside May 26, 2014
“The Cork Star” a folded A3 (four pages A4 format) leaflet distributed anonymously on the Northside of Cork during the election campaign. It is said that it was intended to circulate it across the city but it was pulled after circulation in parts of the North East and North Central wards. The leaflet targeted Sinn Féin and was clearly put out by persons or party who had a lot to lose from a resurgent Sinn Fein.

Letter to Voters from Joseph (Joe) McCormack -Independent -Portlaoise
A letter to voters from Joe McCormack who is running as an Independent in Portlaoise for a seat on Laois County Council. A veteran of elections Joseph McCormack has been contesting since at least 1979. He was elected to Portlaoise Town Council on at least one occasion. He has always stood as an Independent although in 1987 he stood under the moniker of “The People’s Party of Ireland” .
By the heading on the letter he appears to think that it is a General rather than Local Election.
