A Budget 2013 Leaflet from former Labour Minister and now Independent TD Róisín Shortall . The leaflet criticises various measures in the budget such as Child Benefit Cuts and Property Tax.
In relation to the budget she says that ..”…The Government has a duty to be fair to its citizens, and it is failing miserably in this respect”

From the 1989 General Election a leaflet from Eamon Gilmore of The Workers Party who was running in Dun Laoghaire. Having narrowly missed out in the 1987 General Election, it was in this 1989 Election that Gilmore won a seat in the Dail for the first time, a seat he has held since.
The leaflet itself sets out then then aims of The Workers Party and we also have a message to the electorate from Proinsias De Rossa. The 150 words about local issues in Dun Laoghaire gives an idea of some of the problems of the time.
The Autumn 2012 newsletter from Labour Dublin South West TDs Eamonn Maloney and Pat Rabbitte.

Nice piece this from the 1943 General Election, “Put An End To Poverty” ..”Vote Labour”. Interestingly it provides Guarantees for Farmers, Workers, Cottage Tenants, Town Tenants and to The Nation.
The Guarantee to The Nation includes “a saving of 7,000,000 a year in bank interests, payments to financiers ….”

” The Difference is….. We’re Labour” ..Another 2011 Election Labour Party Ad . This one mentions not cutting Child Benefit, Keeping teachers in schools (pupil teacher ratio has since gone up in some schools I gather), affordable health care (A €70 charge for Chemotherapy for those non medical card or medical insurance holders … with debt collectors collecting it!) and more.

For the time of year that’s in it….A selection of some of the budget related leaflets I’ve posted on the site over the last few years….
