Flyer from Hugh Conaghan -Fianna Fail -1976 Donegal North East By-Election July 1, 2014


From the 1976 Donegal North East By-Election a flyer from Hugh Conaghan who was running for Fianna Fail. The by-election won by Independent Fianna Fail candidate Paddy Keaveney (Father of former Fianna Fail TD Celecia Keaveney) , was caused by the passing of Fianna Fail TD Liam Cunningham. Hugh Conaghan was elected to the Dail in 1977 and served as a TD until 1989. The by election result.

Leaflet from Frank Gallagher -Green Party -Donegal North East -2007 General Election September 15, 2013


From the 2007 General Election a leaflet from Green Party candidate in Donegal North East Frank Gallagher. Gallagher polled a respectable 520 votes.
Sadly he passed away in 2011 aged 56.

Leaflet from Dara Blaney -Independent – Donegal North East -2011 General Election December 10, 2012


From the 2011 General Election a Leaflet from Dara Blaney who was running as an Independent/ New Vision candidate in Donegal North East. Blaney , son of the late a Neil Blaney polled 1,228 votes and failed to win a seat.

Jimmy Harte -Independent (Now Labour) -Dongeal North East 2007 General Election. October 10, 2010


From the 2007 General Election a leaflet for Independent Candidate (and recent Labour Recruit) Jimmy Harte running in Donegal North East.
The Letterkenny based formed Fine Gael councillor polled 1314 votes. He is son of former Fine Gael TD Paddy Harte. The leaflet is a messy size, so I’ve uploaded it in *.pdf HERE

 

Cecilia Keaveney- Fianna Fail- 2007 Donegal North East September 5, 2010


From the 2007 General Election a leaflet for Fianna Fail candidate Cecilia Keaveney running in Donegal North East. With the Blaney Independent Fianna Fail organisation rejoining the mothership and Jim McDaid deciding to stand again, Fianna Fail went into the election with 3 sitting TDs fighting for 3 seats.
Despite polling 6,362 votes the Inishowen based Keaveney lost her seat to Fine Gael Senator Joe McHugh.
She is the daughter of former Independent Fianna Fail TD Paddy Keaveney who was elected in the 1976 By Election. Paddy Keavaney lost his seat in the 1977 General Election. He later rejoined Fianna Fail. (an old Leaflet of him standing for Fianna Fail).
20 years after her fathers election. Cecilia Keaveney was also first elected in a By Election, the by election due to the death of her Fathers former Colleague Neil T Blaney. (an old Neil T Blaney Leaflet)
