    Fine Gael has specialised in this type of crap art election time ever since. No mention here that 77 prisoners were executed without trial by this outfit, prisoners taken from prison cells and beaten to death, prisoners taken from cells and shot dead and prisoners in custody executed rather than being brought into custody in line with standards everywhere else.

    As we move towards the 100th anniversary of any of these evens it is also time for the Army to consider its response to its involvement in some of these atrocities. It has never expressed appropriate regret/remorse for its role. On two occasions in three decades Sean MacBride refused to permit the MInister for Defence at that time to be the leader of a government in which he served. But the Army itself has never appropriately apologised for its role in atrocities in this State. It is long overdue that it did so.
