Many thanks for your presentation & congrats on all your community contributions.

RE: Links with China /Chinese./ Tourism
Please find link herewith re some of University College Dublin’s recent links with China & Chinese, which will see ca. one thousand Chinese students per year coming to spend a year in Ireland at UCD( in DLRCoCo area & with transport links). While this will diminish staff: student ratios !!…, I see potential for greater involvement of overseas students in the Dun Laoghaire vicinity, both as Tourists and as spenders in the local economy. There are already ca. 5000 overseas students/year at UCD-(Ireland!!) a number from europe on Erasmus schemes.
They are not all empoverished ! -some are highly sponsored by their governments. They sometimes have family / friends who come to visit while they are here or subsequently. While they often have a good bit of academic work to do while studying here, better communications & interaction through DLRCOCo, tourism bodies & local voluntary/NFP organisations could enhance the general “face of Ireland “shown them, with potential short & longer term socio-economic benefits.

Current Dun L. Tourist Office Offering: While I have found:(i) the staff there to be of very good standard, professional & helpful, (ii)& the location is good &the building is nice, (iii)it could do with better publicity & sign-posting. It seems that the current office is some type of Franchise arrangement with ? Failte Ireland & ? DLRCoCo..
Joyce Tower Sandycove: V. Glad to see Joyce Tower Museum is open again & look forward to finalization of its set-up there. ( http://jamesjoycetower.com/.) & (http://www.joycetower.ie/) *The latter was launched Bloomsday 16/6/2013 . Still Volunteer based operation & Free admission.

    Wishing you a successful campaign,
    Joan
